Sr. Product Designer, Search & ML

Vimeo is looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to support and develop our search and machine learning tools. As a senior designer you will help craft a clear vision and strategy for how search works across the entire suite of Vimeo products, and you will drive the creation of advanced machine learning features across our platforms. You will have the opportunity to define new, long lasting, and highly visible products within Vimeo. 

We need a pragmatic, detailed-minded designer with a strong desire to create amazing products! Someone who has a strong visual point of view and loves working quickly to generate many different ideas. You should thrive on close collaboration with a cross-functional team and be prepared to lead the way in reimagining how we make the power of video accessible to everyone.

What you’ll do:

• Evolve our search framework and interactions to help users connect with content on Vimeo
• Innovate and create new machine learning features that will enhance our user experience and make it seamless for users to create best-in-class video content
• Partner with your Product and Engineering partners to launch and iterate premium product features and experiences across web and mobile platforms.
• Help define future needs and requirements for comprehensive cross-platform features for both search and machine learning with your product partner
• Collaborate directly with other designers to figure out how search and ML features fit into other products areas with different goals
• Work with our Consumer Insights and Data team to directly engage with users and translate quantitative data and qualitative insights into informed design decisions and new product concepts
• Conduct user research and testing to validate ideas and designs

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

• 4+ years of experience as a product designer, user experience designer, interaction designer, or similar role with accompanying experience in visual/graphic design.
• Experience designing for search and an understanding of industry standard search practices and methods
• Experience designing machine learning features, automated processes, or AI products 
• Ability to drive design concepts from business strategy discussions through to day-to-day hands-on design execution
• Excellent communication skills - can clearly articulate your design vision and rationale through verbal and written explanation to any audience ranging from fellow designers to the leadership team. 
• You are able to synthesize abstract concepts and unstructured flows into a simplified user experience
• You are thoughtful about inclusive design and accessibility, with an understanding of WCAG best practices
• You are able to be autonomous. You take initiative and ownership of projects while collaborating with cross-functional partners and other designers
• You have excellent user-centered design skills with a strong proficiency in Figma/Sketch and modern prototyping tools.
• You seek and provide feedback with a positive sense of curiosity 
• Recent portfolio or samples of web and/or native app product design work informed by quantitative or qualitative user research as well as the process that led to their launch.
• You have empathy for users an you strive to help users achieve their goals 
• Ability to implement and contribute to design systems
