Not sure if the level in this job accurately describes you? Don’t hesitate to apply. We believe folks with all sorts of backgrounds and levels of experience can make great teammates!

Look around you today, every wall, window, door, and roof was made possible by the coordination of architects and a team of professionals. They are charged with the responsibility of creating our shelters and yet, they are left with nothing more than Excel to manage their work. Let's change that!
What is Monograph?
Monograph was founded by a team of ex-architects. Monograph is modernizing design professionals’ back office with a beautiful, data-driven platform to help them manage, plan and grow their companies. Our mission is to let architects get back to doing what they love and do best—design—not finance, management or Excel.
Why work at Monograph?
People first: Core to the team, we believe in people first, curiosity, and empathy. You'll be our ambassador and deploy your genuine value for relationships to drive success and happiness.
Build a company that will redefine architecture: Project management is just the beginning...we have big ambitions to help facilitate the entire design process from becoming the document source of truth to coordinating with consultants. You can shape the future of building design.
Work with some of the best product people in the world: We’re an innovative team of highly productive individual contributors with a strong design background. You will be doing some of the best work of your life.

What will you do at Monograph as a Sr. Product Designer

  • Thread design across the entire app: On the surface Monograph is simple, because the complexity automagically happens in the background (meaning by you and the engineers).
  • Work cross-functionally: Joining a fast growing startup, you'll be working with customer success on UX interviews, product on roadmap, and engineers on execution.
  • Own the design system: Along with the frontend team, you'll design, implement, and maintain Figma components to align with the code in Storybook and our app.
  • Design: Our lead role will be in charge of executing on design mockups while also helping define the design culture at Monograph. This role is flexible if you're interested in continuing to design or want to engage in people management.

What skills/qualifications do you need

  • Experience working with designers: You have worked at least 5-8 years as an individual contributor role on a team and are looking for more autonomy and the opportunity to help build a design team.
  • Systems thinking: You will need to keep an accurate mental model of the entire app in your head to help you make design decisions. It's a big ask, but the reality of working in a complex industry like architecture.
  • Opinionated, tasteful UI abilities: You need to love detailing and really care how the interface makes users feel as well as enables them to get work done. Architects are obsessed with design details (they even have an entire publication dedicated to it) and constantly remind us how they value our attention to design in the software.
  • Business communication: You will have a seat at the table, but it requires you to understand the context of both Monograph's business but more importantly our customers'. How will your design choices inform an architecture office to become a better business and help them design even more.
  • US-Based: We are a small but mighty team of collaborators.
  • Bonus Points: Architecture familiarity (the building kind)

Upcoming projects

  • ? Project Hub: Imagine working on a project for 3 years with 12 external consultant companies and the project owner constantly texting you for updates. Welp that's how buildings still get designed. In 2021. We're fixing that by creating the project source of truth for everyone involved in designing a building.
  • ? All the Financials: Monograph's secret sauce (shh) is that we combine money and time in a single, beautiful view across the app. Currently for money/time our app shows planned, scheduled, and consumed but nothing for billable or paid. We need to revisit each page of the app to give folks critical at-a-glance info how they're doing financially.
