About you

This person should have a wide range of skills including prototyping, visual design, user research/testing, and data interpretation, nonetheless, they find the process of exploration and strategy the most interesting part of their job. We are looking for someone who has experience with using scientific methods to improve user experience and business metrics.

Sr Product Designer in the Growth team is expected to embrace ‘failure’ as a learning opportunity to maximize our understanding of developers’ success. You are enthusiastic about working with cross-disciplinary stakeholders to facilitate the user experience improvement conversation across different services and points of view. In this role, you will be responsible for:

• driving the end-to-end design process for optimization, experimentation, innovation and high-impact projects,
• working with engineers to develop and test UI concepts,
• visualizing and connecting the ecosystem touchpoints for MongoDB users and recommending areas for improvement.
• partnering with the core Growth Product and Design team on vision concepts to inform upcoming Growth projects,
• designing solutions for short-term and long-term impact, 
• approaching design challenges through the lens of systems thinking, seeking a holistic user experience,
• working with researchers, data analysts, and core product design teams to enhance our understanding of MongoDB customers,
• Creating a research plan for a given project, including the definition of research objectives,
• driving product/service design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry standards for experimentation,
• designing product UI for experiments that produce learnings about product adoption and user engagement,
• communicating design decisions using storytelling and backup data
• advocating for the best user experience 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in User Experience design
• Experienced with the end-to-end process of product design
• Experience designing for SaaS (Software as a Service), and working with technical teams to create user flows, wireframes, and user interface mockups
• Growth mindset; thirst for knowledge and embracing challenges.Has a strong desire for self-improvement, as well as the growth and enhancement of others, and strives to deliver exceptional customer experiences

Hard skills

• A good theoretical background and practical experience in service design
• Strong portfolio using qualitative and quantitative insights to create actionable design principles and decisions
• Experience in running simple research studies to inform their design decision
• Familiarity with Growth strategy and experimentation methodologies
• Working with data and qualitative insight, through collaboration with other designers and the product management team to design solutions and strategic propositions

Soft skills:

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in a fast-paced environment.Is comfortable with large, loosely defined user problems within their product area. Can drive teams towards understanding through user discovery, resulting in more accurate scoping
• Sees mistakes as learning opportunities and is open to feedback
• Adaptable to new situations and environments based on experimentation results
• Eager to learn about new domains
• Collaborative frameworks, storytelling, and workshop facilitation

Nice to have

• Understanding the basics of behavioral design and how to use it towards solving business and user needs
• A strong portfolio representing innovation projects
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-discipline relationship building
• Strong background in the Industry and familiarity with developer knowledge
