The impact you will have:

  • Lead a wide range of data visualization product features and initiatives across Databricks
  • Empower our customers to quickly and easily build insightful and beautiful graphs and visualizations using their data
  • Help to define a design language for the way we visualize data lineage across our many product touchpoints
  • Gain a deep understanding of Databricks business objectives, users, market opportunities, and competition. Become well-versed on the Databricks product and its personas (Data scientists, data engineers, data analysts and administrators)
  • Deliver designs for Databricks' product and contribute to the overall direction of the product
  • Able to work closely with Engineering, Product Management and other key leadership to drive critical initiatives through from ideation to completion
  • Actively seek & provide design feedback and collaboratively improve the design process

What we look for:

  • You possess a unique combination of technical knowledge and visual design skills which allows you to design beautiful and impactful data visualizations, charts and data visualization components
  • You have the skills to create not only the details of a graph, but also the UX craft to build a seamless and easy user experience for customers when they are creating a graph or visualization
  • Asystem thinker who has the vision to design the big picture, and the tactical ability to break it down so that engineering can succeed in building it incrementally
  • Aminimum of 5 years of product design work experience
  • Proven ability to ship great data visualization products
  • Adesigner with strong tradecraft, who is at ease drawing from a vast toolkit to get the job done
  • Anatural communicator who can explain and document the behavior of the components they design
  • Abachelor's or master's degree or equivalent, ideally with specialization in HCI, Interaction Design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
  • Aportfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process, from inception to production
  • Experience with the following is a nice-to-have:
  • Experience designing products in the Big Data space
  • Experience coding Python, R, SQL or other languages that could be most relevant to the field of data visualization
