Hi there!
Zapier’s mission is to make automation work for everyone, make everyone more productive at work, and help teams supercharge their business processes.
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Manager, Product Design to elevate our UX design practices within our New Products division. Reporting to the Director, Product Design, our ideal candidate is a player-coach that has experience working in fast-paced startup-like environments, leading through uncharted territories where uncertainty fuels innovation. You will be responsible for helping teams shape our New Products solutions - Tables, Interfaces, Chatbots, and Canvas, while advocating for and supporting efforts to unify these products into the wider Zapier Platform. You will have direct management over the Product Design team within New Products, and partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to shape product strategy and vision.
Why Join Us? Join us at Zapier, where ambiguity breeds innovation, and the unexplored is the canvas for remarkable discoveries. Early days signify endless potential, and challenges are catalysts for extraordinary creations. Here, we're rewriting the norms and shaping the future of user-centric design.
Zapier is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.
Even though our job description may seem like we're looking for a specific candidate, the role inevitably ends up tailored to the person who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if you meet these criteria:
Navigator of Uncertainty: You thrive in uncharted territories, navigating uncertainty with confidence, and fostering a culture where challenges are seen as opportunities for groundbreaking solutions.
Inspiring Design Thinking: Your design thinking inspires and motivate teams, catalyzing quick implementation, and encouraging users to invest time in exploring products.
Continuous Growth: With 5-8 years of experience designing digital products, you possess a strong understanding of the product development lifecycle and design thinking processes. You continually seek growth opportunities as a design leader, never straying far from your craft.
Balancing User Needs and Business Value: You bridge the gap between user goals and business objectives, demonstrating expertise in scaling businesses while creating significant user value.
Self-Directed and Process-Driven: Systematic and self-directed, you effectively manage workloads, collaborate cross-functionally, and mitigate project risks.
Master Storyteller and Collaborator: Impactful communication—visual, written, and presentation—is crucial in our 100% remote setup. You thrive on facilitating collaborative sessions and believe that collaboration is key to success.
Seeker of Feedback: Growth through feedback is ingrained in your design process. You actively seek input early and often, setting ego aside for constructive feedback.
Strategic Leadership and Performance Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Tables, Interfaces, Chatbots, and Canvas squads, setting clear goals, defining KPIs, and conducting regular evaluations to ensure high-quality work aligns with business objectives and innovation goals.
Mentorship, Coaching, and Collaboration: Act as a mentor and coach, nurturing the professional growth of team members, while fostering strong working relationships with cross-functional partners to ensure cohesive efforts, alignment of objectives, and successful project execution.
User-Centered Strategy and Performance Improvement: Drive the creation and execution of user-centered strategies, leveraging insights and experiential learning to shape product development and design decisions, while continuously assessing and improving UX processes and advocating for best practices.
Team Empowerment, Communication, and Iteration: Empower and enable the team to thrive in an environment of experimentation, iterating on concepts based on user feedback and business needs. Effectively represent the UX perspective, communicating design rationale and strategies clearly to stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding, and encouraging a culture of open feedback and iteration.
We believe all Zapiens should be rewarded competitively and equitably, using practices that are simple and transparent. This philosophy ensures we’re able to find, grow, and retain exceptional people from a broad range of backgrounds. Here’s how we define our compensation principles:
Competitive: Zapier pays well among the technology sector.
Equitable: Consistent pay practices; competency-based pay.
Simple: Pay is well understood, and pay practices are built for scale.
Transparent: Zapiens know how pay works, including how their pay is determined.
The pay ranges for this role are:
United States: $202,500 / $253,100/ $303,700 USD
Canada: $202,500 / $253,100 / $303,700 CAD
A Candidate's compensation package is finalized once the interview process is concluded and accounts for experience, competencies (job knowledge, skills and abilities) and internal equity. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means we set pay for all Zapier employees based on their competency and skills demonstrated in their role. In alignment with that philosophy, the upper half of a pay range is typically reserved for individuals who have consistently demonstrated a high level of job knowledge and skills for their current role and level while at Zapier.

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of education or companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.
After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!
Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base.
Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact [email protected].
Even though we’re an all-remote company, we still need to be thoughtful about where we have Zapiens working. Check out this resource for a list of countries where we currently cannot have Zapiens permanently working.
