As a member of Formant's inaugural design team, the Senior Visual Designer will be at the forefront of brand and experience design in robotics, setting visual standards for an exciting new space. This is a unique opportunity to establish the design culture for a growing company, with support from a design leader passionate about craft, mentorship, collaboration, and customer success.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with product designers, managers, and engineers to continually refine the Formant web application.
- Partner with marketers to produce assets for the Formant website, social channels, and other media.
- Design presentations and other internal communications.
- Maintain the Formant UI component library and visual style guide.
To do this well, you should have:
- A portfolio demonstrating at least 5 years of professional experience creating screen flows, high-fidelity mockups, and visual assets for responsive web applications and marketing sites.
- A critical point of view on color, composition, typography, and visual trends, their relationship with content and function, and a compelling perspective on what separates "great" from "good."
- A firm handle on Figma for creating production-ready, component-based UIs.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, and communicating design concepts to colleagues with different levels of design expertise.
- Grace in managing a small startup’s ever-changing requirements, turning ambiguous requests into clear solutions.
- A fondness for designing technical things, with a conviction they should be as beautiful as they are functional: control surfaces, data visualizations, maps, code editors, diagrams…
