We are looking for an experienced User Researcher who will lead research projects that drive  and influence strategy for the Ads Business Unit. You will build multi-disciplinary project teams and conduct research to generate opportunities, define short and long term strategy, and enable business unit goals and objectives. In this role on our Ads Core Insights team, you’ll join a broader cross-functional group looking critically at how advertising fits into our ad-supported listening experience from user-centered perspectives. You will study user behavior, new initiatives, content, revenue opportunities, business models, and new features to bring qualitative and quantitative data and insights into every decision we make for Spotify listeners and advertisers.

What you’ll do

  • Assess gaps in current multi-year Ads strategy to identify the right research projects to tackle and influence direction.
  • Build project teams including different insights teammates (such as Data Science, Data Visualization and Analytics Engineering) to execute end-to-end research from planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing and communicating insights. 
  • Design and conduct creative mixed methods research studies to gain a deeper understanding of our b2b and listener audiences users.
  • Employ a wide range of storytelling techniques to communicate results and recommendations to leaders and team members.
  • Help set the research roadmap - planning 3-6 months in advance.
  • Develop and innovate on our mixed-methods user research practice.

Who you are

  • You lead rigorous research for product and business teams to define new opportunity spaces. 
  • Have extensive experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • You deliver impactful insights from your data to drive action upon your findings.
  • You exhibit a growth mindset, are quick to learn new methods (from Data Science, Behavioral Science) and are excited by working on a constantly evolving team.
  • Have 5+ years experience in a similar research role and a degree in HCI, social science or a related field. Based on your experience and expertise we will match you to one of two levels during the interview process - User Researcher or Senior User Researcher.
