SENIOR USER RESEARCHER

At Current, we’re on a mission to enable our members to create better financial outcomes for themselves. Headquartered in NYC, we’re a leading U.S. fintech and one of the fastest growing companies with nearly 4 million members. No matter your title, we’re a team that collaborates on building great products and making an impact together.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior User Researcher at Current, you’ll be working with highly collaborative teams who value and respect research. Teams at Current already use research to make key strategic decisions. A person in this role will have an opportunity to deliver broad impact at all levels of the company.

We are looking for an experienced qualitative or mixed-methods User Researcher who loves tackling ambiguous strategic problems—and enthusiastically 'rolls up their sleeves' to do tactical usability research when it's the right thing to do.

This position requires strong research, storytelling, and organizational skills. You will independently recommend, design, and execute studies which impact all stages of product development. You'll synthesize findings and collaborate with cross-functional partners to inform product strategy across the company.

You'll be the second researcher at Current, reporting to the Director of User Research. While this is a senior individual contributor role, there is a possibility to step into a lead/manager role as the research team grows.

We’re especially looking for someone who wants to learn, grow, and discover new ways of working. If you have a growth mindset, consistently deliver results, and love collaborating with other Researchers, Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and more—this is an amazing team to join.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with teams to uncover and prioritize research needs.
  • Identify the right research approaches to get the right answers based on research questions, timing, and resources.
  • Develop and deliver impactful research which informs decision making throughout the product life cycle.
  • Coordinate with other insights teams to execute cross-functional research and deliver impactful, data-driven narratives.
  • Create, present, and share reports to help teams make user-centered decisions.
  • Inform product strategy by collaborating with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and more.
  • Advocate for the needs of our users throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Help other people understand how to integrate research in their daily work, and coach them on running their own studies (when that makes sense).

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have 5+ years of User Research experience, using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform product and design strategy.
  • You have experience independently owning all steps of the research process, ideally as a research lead on a cross-functional team.
  • You’re a great storyteller with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You know how to share insights in ways people care about and remember.
  • You know how to balance rigor and scrappiness in your research.
  • You love working in-stride with other people: product managers, designers, researchers, marketers, and more. This is important. Many teams at Current have different working styles and different perspectives. You’ll need to collaborate with them successfully to do your job.

BONUS:

  • Experience at high-growth startups is a bonus. Financial services experience is a bonus too.
  • Experience using methods from other insights practices (Market Research, Data Science, Service Design, etc.).
  • Having experience building stories which connect the dots between research findings and business metrics like LTV, ARPU, CAC, MAU, churn, and similar.

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary
  • Meaningful equity in the form of stock options
  • 401(k) plan with company matching
  • Discretionary performance bonus program
  • Biannual performance reviews
  • Medical, Dental and Vision premiums covered at 100% for you and your dependents
  • Flexible time off and paid holidays
  • Generous parental leave policy
  • Commuter benefits
  • Healthcare and Dependent care FSA benefit
  • Employee Assistance Programs focused on mental health
  • Healthcare advocacy program for all employees
  • Access to mental health apps
  • Team building activities
  • Our modern Chelsea-based office with open floor plan, stocked kitchen, and catered lunches
