Our team of 90+ designers and user researchers is split into three departments covering User Experience Research, Product- and Brand Design. All designers work embedded in product tribes, in market facing teams or as part of a Global Design team. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations.

In this role as a (Senior) Quantitative Researcher, you will lead initiatives to deepen customer understanding and evangelise customer-centric practices through Quantitative Research with our Sales, Marketing, and Brand teams. 

You will also be bringing together our Research Chapter and our Data & Insights Chapter to strengthen the foundations of knowledge inside SumUp. Focusing on the SumUp products and services, you will play a pivotal role in providing continuous iterations of quantitative insights and feedback to fuel the product and brand and marketing process. 

You’ll work on a global brand that is changing the lives of millions of people in 31 countries and growing - and you’ll be helping us to expand our reach as we continue to develop new areas of business. You will also be an integral part of our User Research practice, helping us to scale into a multi-dimensional insights team.

You are a research professional with a proven track record of delivering rich, actionable insights on quantitative, product, business and marketing topics. You will also be comfortable operating in an Agile environment with various stakeholders and projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with design, product development, content strategy, brand and marketing teams to identify research opportunities
  • Drive and lead a quantitative-research agenda across product development and marketing strategies, drawing on your own technical expertise (e.g. NPS, quantitative analysis, feature experimentation) to help drive product and marketing decisions from quantitative data
  • Effectively manage and prioritize research plans through ambiguous and fast-changing environments, align and turn critical insights into actionables and work with a large group of stakeholders
  • Synthesize customer feedback data from multiple sources (including NPS) with associated business metrics to determine key drivers of customer success, loyalty, churn and overall experience, to achieve actionable insights based on a comprehensive overview of customer feedback
  • Identify, define, evaluate, and report user value driven product metrics across a portfolio of products to ensure valid and meaningful measurement of user experiences and loyalty
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways
  • Ensure compliance and efficiency for overall quantitative research activities
  • Work closely with product management, UX, and marketing partners to demonstrate the value of quantitative research. Collaborate with team members across SumUp to adapt and develop new methods for interpreting product data
  • Demonstrate excellent statistical and scientific judgement, producing rigorous results in a fast-paced environment and setting a high technical standard

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, HCI, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of quantitative research experience
  • Excellent command of research methods and of technical tools for the data collection and analysis of data, such as Qualtrics and SPSS
  • Experience in stakeholder management across various functions
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Strong analytical, critical and business relevant thinking
  • Fluent in English as well as one core market language (German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese)

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of relevant product research experience
  • Proven experience to deliver high-class, actionable insights and recommendations to C-level stakeholders
  • Experience owning and delivering quantitative research - foundational or validation-related and driving results
  • Demonstrated ability to take on multiple projects concurrently, and adapt to changing schedules and priorities
  • Plus: experience with Voice of the Customer programs, experience with R or Python, experience in consulting business
