Senior Product Operations Manager (Retail)

Shopify Retail builds our POS system (software and hardware) with everything our merchants need to sell in person, backed by everything they need to sell online. We are an RnD team anchored around a mission to help merchants create incredible in-person shopping experiences.

You’ll get to do things like:

• Structure and solve complex and ambiguous business issues for the Retail team
• Develop a deep understanding of how teams work and what’s in their way, to solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, and help us focus and move faster to make merchants successful.
• Partner with teams to cross-functionally align product planning, and drive momentum for cycle planning 
• Gather and analyze large amounts of information quickly and problem solve effectively
• Build systems for constant alignment, accountability and feedback, and drive their rhythm
• Provide visibility and alignment on Retail team 
• Collaborate with frontline teams, Data and UX Research to disseminate insights leading to data-informed product development, and ensuring the right people are involved in critical decisions early, regardless of the team they’re on
• Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Retail RnD Leadership, all while building communication bridges between senior Retail Leaders and hands on teams building our products

Here’s what you can expect as a Senior Product Operations Manager

In your first 30 days, you’d complete the Shopify technical training and onboarding program and develop relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization. 

In your first six months, you’d be expected to support the team with strong operational rhythm while also driving ~ 2 high-priority initiatives for the team you are supporting and potentially broadly across Retail. 

After approximately two years, you'd have the context, skills and network to be driving high impact results across large parts of the organization.

We’re looking for someone with the following:

• Has experience successfully leading complex operational and strategic initiatives for senior stakeholders
• Entrepreneurial mindset to deliver impact in ambiguous environments 
• Ability to go deep on problems and communicate credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience of problem-solving and analytical skills, including modeling and presentation skills
• Experience in designing minimum viable process, think in systems while rolling up their sleeves to get things done
• Strong ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven at getting things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment.
• Expertise in payments and retail preferred
