To enable successful and sustainable delivery across our product teams, the Product Management Chapter’s mission is to drive the effectiveness of 30+ Product Managers and their cross-functional teams and empower our teams to do what they do best.

We are looking for a Senior Product Operations Manager to automate, streamline and optimize our processes, tools and reporting. In this role, you will work in a newly formed team to identify, evaluate and create solutions needed for product, design and engineering to be effective. This role is meant to bring together Babbel as a whole and unleash its potential as a growing organization. It is a full-time role based out of our Berlin office.

You will:

  • Work directly with Product Managers and Product Leadership to understand their roadmaps, interdependencies and risks in order to create appropriate solutions responding to real needs
  • Manage Product Operations initiatives, leveraging data, research and stakeholder feedback to define and prioritize the Product Operations roadmap in line with company goals
  • Help establish and grow our product delivery teams, and empower them to ensure consistent engagement, performance and productivity
  • Support the overall planning and reporting processes for product development teams, facilitating alignment with company-wide strategy cadences, quarterly business reviews and Babbel’s strategic pillars
  • Improve and maintain product-related onboarding and knowledge management capabilities to ensure teams can always access information needed based on their individual role
  • Strengthen collaboration and communication across Product and Engineering and the broader organization, establishing alignment with all relevant stakeholders in the end-to-end product lifecycle
  • Drive continuous improvement, adoption and ongoing maintenance of the tools and processes in the product and engineering ecosystem (e.g. Productboard, Jira, Confluence, planning processes, release procedures)
  • Provide transparency and visibility at a portfolio level to stakeholders and other parts of the organization on goals, outcomes, roadmaps, progress and capacity of product delivery teams

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Program Manager, and/or Product Operations Manager at an internet-based company, with a proven track record to support and engage your team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and present complex topics to a range of audiences. English is a prerequisite.
  • Excellent project management skills, especially within a complex and changing environment.
  • Deep understanding of how product management and development works in a fully agile environment, and the needs of product and engineering teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira tooling and functionalities.
  • You have seen and know what it takes to transform a successful start-up into a professionalized scalable business.
  • Strong customer focus, with a drive to continuously discover and solve problems impeding your customers.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, able to cut through ambiguity and irrelevant details to solve root causes.
  • Strong change management skills to unblock change resistance to improvement initiatives.

You are:

  • Strategic & Organized - you will be a thought-partner in driving innovation alongside product and engineering leaders. You keep track of many moving parts at once. You should be able to self-manage work and clearly delegate work to others.
  • Curious & Entrepreneurial - you’re excited by figuring out previously unsolved problems and continue to look to the market for new inspiration. You can show your go-getter attitude with different clear examples of setting out to do something, giving it your all, and accomplishing it. You are comfortable with ambiguity and open to change.
  • Cross-Functional Bridge Builder - you are effective at cross-functional alignment. Listening to others, clarifying, finding areas of shared success, and inspiring others, while holding fast to your product north star. You know when to consult experts.
  • Proactive & Critical - you’re not shy in starting a conversation when you see opportunities for improvements. Addressing gaps and questioning the status quo in a productive way is a natural part of your communication.
  • Passionate About Learning - you care deeply about improving the learner’s experience. You can hold user-centricity throughout your processes and reports, while finding where the learner’s needs and the business opportunity intersect.
