The worldwide data management software market is massive (According to IDC, the worldwide database software market, which it refers to as the database management systems software market, was forecasted to be approximately $82 billion in 2023 growing to approximately $137 billion in 2027. This represents a 14% compound annual growth rate). At MongoDB we are transforming industries and empowering developers to build amazing apps that people use every day. We are the leading developer data platform and the first database provider to IPO in over 20 years. Join our team and be at the forefront of innovation and creativity.

We are looking for a proven and skilled Product Marketer, with experience in the security software market, to lead and drive thought leadership themes, messaging, and GTM initiatives around security and compliance.  The product marketing role has the exciting opportunity to position security and compliance as a key differentiator for MongoDB.  As Data security is always a high concern for our customers you will show how MongoDB’s security and privacy features can help companies comply with existing and emerging regulations, how MongoDB exceeds customer’s security requirements, and how the security capabilities of MongoDB can help companies accelerate their journeys to the cloud.

You will be a key member of an energetic and globally distributed product marketing team.  In addition, you will work closely with Product Management, MongoDB Cryptography Research Group, the MongoDB GRC team, and the partners team.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation – Develop value propositions, messages, and positioning that translates security capabilities into unique and meaningful business benefits and value that resonate with diverse audiences. Exhibiting thought leadership and storytelling will be a key part of the role, especially in communicating how the products’ capabilities can protect an organization’s most valuable data assets, their security/compliance requirements are met and comply with industry regulations
  • Research and Develop – Analyze customer requirements, the evolving security and privacy landscape, and competitive offerings to identify key messages and points of MongoDB differentiation, along with gaps in current offerings. You will infuse this analysis into product messaging and positioning
  • Plan and Execute – Collaborate with other Product Marketers plus our Marketing, DevRel, and Sales Enablement teams to create the strategic and tactical GTM plan that communicates the value of MongoDB security
  • Launch - Own and manage the launch strategy for new security features, capabilities, and compliance attestations and certifications
  • Evangelize – Engage directly with customers in support of sales cycles. Drive awareness and desire of MongoDB externally including assuming the role of spokesperson to the press and analyst community
  • Define – Share market and user analysis with our Product Management, Engineering, and Executive leadership teams to help inform product strategy and roadmap

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience (product marketing, solutions marketing)
  • Deep experience in cloud security and how it is relevant in a rapidly evolving market landscape, especially in emerging privacy and infosec regulations, access control (authentication/auditing) and/or encryption,  secure development practices, and integrations between systems (e.g., with cloud provider services)
  • Experience with marketing and selling cloud products/services to the US federal government, including familiarity with FedRAMP
  • The ability to take on complex projects and own them from start to finish, with organization and efficiency
  • The ability to clearly articulate the value of a product/service to customers, but also to sales teams in a way that enables them to communicate it to customers
  • Experience leading product or feature launches autonomously and contributing to larger launches with a team
  • Thrive in cross-functional environments and can effectively collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and teams
  • Strong product instincts and technical curiosity that translate to clear packaging, positioning, and messaging
  • Have exceptional writing and communication skills (this is a must-have)
