About this role

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with over 95 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat you’re an athlete, and Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day!

With a global pandemic bringing massive shifts in connected consumer behavior, we’re in the midst of a major revolution in how people come together to run, ride, compete and build camaraderie in person and at a distance. Strava will be at the center of this new events future. From a few friends working out together to a major marathon, Strava will become the place where athletes experience communal challenges and events - before, during, and after.

The Product Marketing lead for this new offering will be a key owner as we bring inspiration, celebration, and community to event participants while offering ease, support, and business/organization success to event creators.

A key partner to the product management, research, analytics, and design leads working across challenges and events, you’ll be a passionate advocate for athletes around the world, working to shape the product roadmap based on your keen, insights-driven analysis. As someone energized by starting things, you’ll also scope, initiate, and execute a portfolio of innovative full-funnel marketing programs to scale this business line.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Partner closely with teams including research, product, design, and marketing communications to ground our product marketing strategy in the athlete experience and in the needs of event creators, sponsors, and organizers

  • Own go-to-market strategy and success for events on Strava, ranging from a group of like-minded friends to major global tentpoles

  • Build and grow ways for athletes to join challenges and events on Strava, strengthening the overall Strava business by understanding, articulating, and scaling value propositions for both athletes and organizers

You will be successful here by:

  • Being a champion and vocal supporter for the athlete experience and creator needs

  • Honing your deep product expertise to craft product go-to-market strategies for new and existing events offerings that help athletes discover, participate in, and celebrate shared athletic pursuits

  • Actively driving collaboration and alignment across a range of partner teams in order to build, refine, communicate, and scale features and new messaging approaches

  • Challenging the status quo, helping to drive inclusivity, examine bias, and drive forward progress on our anti-racism commitments through your work and approach

We’re excited about you because:

  • You have 6+ years of experience in consumer product marketing, with marketplace or B2B experience a plus

  • You’ve shepherded cross-functional teams through high-growth phase, and you naturally adjust from player to coach mode and back again

  • You’re analytical and empathetic, as good in a spreadsheet as you are in a design review

  • You’re fascinated by consumer behavior and want to learn what motivates people to come together through a shared love of sport and what benefits Strava can provide to Events organizers

  • You love building integrated marketing campaigns to connect with consumers where they spend their time, including CRM and social media

  • You love to try new things and are energized by creative challenges

  • You can refine great ideas over time, adjusting marketing tactics and plans as needed

  • You can prioritize ruthlessly, and make good on your commitments

  • You are incredible when it comes to working effectively across different teams, from marketing to product to engineering

About Strava

Strava is Swedish for “strive,” which epitomizes who we are and what we do. We’re a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to connect athletes to what motivates them and help them find their personal best. And with billions of activity uploads from all over the world, we have a humbling and audacious vision: to be the record of the world’s athletic activities and the technology that makes every effort count.

Strava builds software that makes the best part of our athletes’ days even better. And just as we’re deeply committed to unlocking their potential, we’re dedicated to providing a world-class, inclusive workplace where our employees can grow and thrive, too. We’re backed by Sequoia Capital, Madrone Partners and Jackson Square Ventures, and we’re expanding in order to exceed the needs of our growing community of global athletes. Our culture reflects our community – we are continuously striving to hire and engage diverse teammates from all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives because we know we are a stronger team together.

In light of the global pandemic, Strava is currently working in a fully remote capacity. As always, we remain committed to fully supporting our employees, especially their mental health and wellbeing, through these challenging times. Despite challenges in the world around us, we are continuing to grow camaraderie and positivity within our culture and we are unified in our commitment to becoming an antiracist company. We are differentiated by our truly people-first approach, our compassionate leadership, and our belief that we can bring joy and inspiration to athletes’ lives — now more than ever. All to say, it’s a great time to join Strava!
