The Data Reliability team exists to empower Xero to be reliable and trusted. We do this by providing Xero’s product and technology team with support, guidance and internal products that make it easy for other Xeros to build a reliable experience for our customers.

The team is currently undergoing a strategic transition to evolve our offering from manual database administration towards data reliability engineering.

As the Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in introducing a platform as a product approach to enable this strategy. You will be responsible for setting our vision and strategy for a portfolio of products and services. You will lead, coach and hire a talented team of Product Owners. Your skillful leadership enables them, and their engineering pods, to deliver compelling products and services that solve real problems for our customers, in turn creating value for Xero.

This is an exciting opportunity to discover and carve out new products, whilst leading a global function that is scaling rapidly.

What you'll do:

You’ll set a compelling product vision that your team of Product Owners pursue with missionary zeal. They know what’s important, how they are contributing, and why what they’re working on is the most important thing.
You’ll coach your Product Owners in modern product discovery practices — enabling them and their engineering pods to understand and use experimental techniques.
You’ll actively seek out metrics to validate a hypothesis and measure results. Your portfolio is thriving because you and your Product Owners make good decisions based on evidence.
You’ll build healthy relationships with your stakeholders and ensure all stakeholders are updated appropriately on product vision, strategy, releases and roadmaps.
You’ll empower your Product Owners and their engineering pods to make decisions when fast, decentralised decision-making is appropriate to reduce delays, make improvements, enable faster feedback and more innovative solutions.

What you'll bring:

Proven experience championing strategic priorities and helping others relate to and align with it. Proven experience setting product vision and strategy.
Proven experience using prioritisation models — can relay several different prioritisation models, when to use which and why.
Proven product experience — with an extensive toolbox of modern product discovery practices to draw upon. Proven experience coaching Product Owners in them.
Proven experience using a range of metrics to monitor the success and health of products and services. Proven experience of making evidence-based decisions.
A solid track record of addressing customer needs. Proven experience connecting teams closer with customers (and not just be a proxy for them).
Excellent stakeholder management skills. Proven experience building meaningful, collaborative relationships across all levels of the business.
Proven experience advocating for a product or service with customers and stakeholders.
Proven experience leading and building high-performing product teams, fostering an open and a collaborative environment.
