Location(s)

For this position, we are looking to hire someone based in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Washington.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager who is excited to work in a hot B2B software space with a passion for bringing together design, engineering, and product into the feature development to understand the problem and quickly get to the most valuable slice of work and deliver it to customers.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for product discovery, feature definition, information architecture, feature planning, user experience, and analytics related to Workflows, Approvals, Tasks, and Notifications on Tropic. This includes functionality that Tropic provides to orchestrate the purchasing process for organizations, ensuring the right people are included in the process, at the right time, with the right task.

You will constantly partner with customers, leadership, other product managers, cross-functional stakeholders, designers, and engineers on our remote-first team distributed across North America (our biggest footprints are in New York, Denver, and Atlanta), Europe, and beyond.

Our product, engineering, and design teams don’t subscribe to a single methodology, instead, we combine the best development and product management strategies to support the industry-defining features we’re building.

One thing that is really important to us is a lightweight process to help guide how we all work together by documenting repeatable processes. Recently we have been using Shape Up as this lightweight process.

What You'll Do

  • Create feature pitch documents to share with your leadership, product and engineering teams to help circulate feature ideas.
  • Create and maintain feature backlogs to drive roadmap planning and prioritize new features based on customer and internal team needs, business goals, technical feasibility, and resources.
  • Manage the product development process from end-to-end for product improvements in one or many of Tropic’s core user-facing or internal service delivery-focused features
  • Regularly meet with prospects, customers, and teams to discuss their needs and synthesize findings to inform product strategy.
  • Analyze usage and organize product feedback for the core features you’re managing.
  • Increase transparency by surfacing, tracking, and communicating the right business metrics and better feedback loops.
  • Understand the competitive landscape by keeping up with the latest trends in procurement and finance software platforms.
  • Work closely with pre and post-sale teams to launch new features, develop release communication, and go-to-market plans, and drive product adoption.
  • Define and participate in systems and processes that allow the product team to work effectively across the organization.

What You’ve Done

  • You have 2+ years of relevant experience in product management, including some with high-growth B2B SaaS products. A focus on workflows, approvals, and notifications is a plus.
  • You may have built products that have task management functionality and that reflect complex business processes.
  • You value good ideas over who’s the idea was.
  • Being a part of a team that is reaching its goals is more important than you being individually recognized.
  • You prefer to have honest conversations with your teammates even if they are hard because you value an open and honest work environment where everyone feels it's a safe place to communicate and where everyone matters.
  • You thrive on the idea of having a huge impact on what we are building right away.
  • You have a plan of attack for customer interviews in order to get the feedback you need to make decisions.
  • If you see something that is not fully your responsibility but know it’s important to get it done, you take ownership of it and make sure to see it through.
  • You have successfully increased user engagement.
  • You’re equally comfortable communicating thoughts, ideas, and features in writing across different mediums: sketches and wireframes of varying fidelity or when speaking in person and on video.
  • You have phenomenal analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • You are comfortable working with products that rely on extracting and organizing complex datasets.
  • You are a self-starter and know how to get things done while working remotely.
  • You love to keep things organized, but you know when to accommodate a lack of structure for the sake of speed.
  • You enjoy working closely with designers, developers, and business stakeholders and you are able to establish and facilitate trust, respect, and collaboration across a group to make informed decisions.
  • You excel in breaking down complex feature requests into small, measurable components that facilitate asynchronous work.
  • You have a strong customer-centric mindset and you know how to collect user feedback and put it into action.
  • You have experience deploying different strategies to break down work and you don’t shy away from helping others organize and clarify their tasks for the greater good of a project.

What We Offer

  • Remote first work environment
  • Optional offices in NYC, Atlanta, and Denver
  • Virtual & in-person meetups
  • 401k plan with 4% company matching
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents
  • Unlimited flexible vacation and holiday time off
