The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers. Join us and help to amplify productivity, quality and innovation across Spotify.

The Platform Developer Experience organization is part of the Platform department. The department crafts the technology ecosystem that enables Spotify to learn and deliver quickly, while safely and easily scaling to billion customers, and enabling our rapid employee growth around the globe. We consist of eight organizational units, that reflect the needs and groupings of our internal customers – from the shared approaches to supporting and aligning the craft and practice of designers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists – to the frameworks, capabilities and tools they need to do their work as effectively, quickly, and safely as possible. We are an amplifier for efficiency, quality, and innovation across Spotify.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced product leader to help create the best developer experience in the world. The mission of the team is to level up the quality and alignment of all code within Spotify by ensuring teams understand the positive impact of improving quality/alignment.

In this role, you will lead a new cross-functional team and motivate other teams within the platform organization to deeply understand quality, technical debt, and blockers to leveling up systems. You will also focus heavily on establishing impact-based recommendations for teams of all domains, so they clearly understand the direct benefit to increasing quality, reliability, and architectural alignment.

What you’ll do

  • Own product vision, goals, strategy and roadmaps for the team, and be accountable for a clear set of product and business metrics
  • Understanding what quality means for all teams, drive adoption, drive alignment, and ensure that addressing tech debt is an essential part of all teams' focus
  • Keen interest and willingness to work on both engineering and business value proposition strategy.
  • Balance needs around reliability, security and scale with building new features
  • Work closely with our Quality, Platform Insights and advisory boards across the organization to set goals and develop strategies for reaching them
  • Deeply care about improving developer experience for our engineers, while working with the Engineering Manager to ensure healthy delivery – including capabilities, happiness, resilience, and growth
  • Ensure your team is doing the right things, while not being spread too thinly. A healthy balance of innovation, support and maintenance are key for successful teams at Spotify

Who you are

  • You are an interdisciplinary problem solver, with a love for leading discovery and partnering with designers, user researchers, data scientists and technical architects; as well as internal partners, to understand new problem spaces and blend different perspectives in pursuit of a mission
  • You have a clear understanding of what it means to build platform products as opposed to consumer products, are passionate about building products that enable others to move with speed to solve their own needs, while enabling others to do the same
  • You have a testing & monitoring background as an engineer or PM and are capable of inspiring others to improve software quality
  • An outstanding communicator and storyteller, you are comfortable with both writing and presenting to get your ideas heard, get alignment from a variety of partners and engage with your audience on a personal level
  • You are good at sorting through ambiguity, while being structured and giving close attention to details
  • Strong bias for execution, shipping product, delivering customer and user value

Where you'll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences.
