Product manager, Simulation and Evalusation

This hybrid role will report to a Director, Product Management. #LI-Hybrid

Waymo's Product Management Team is a mission-driven team responsible for writing and enacting first-of-their-kind playbooks to bring fully autonomous driving technology to market. Our team develops simple solutions for complex problems by orchestrating cross-functional efforts to safely drive Waymo's technology and the products it enables forward. We do this by understanding the customer, the business, and the technology. In this role you'll:

• Work with a team of world class data scientists, engineers, machine learning practitioners to evaluate the safety of our driving behavior in a data-driven way.
• Develop the roadmap for innovating and scaling our most important evaluation methodologies for determining if software is ready for Rider Only
• Connect simulation realism efforts (such as sensor simulation and simulated agents) with evaluation in order to increase signal and learnings from simulation
• Work closely with Onboard and Systems Engineering to evaluate our performance in complying with regulations and community impact.
• Develop policies and a framework against which we should evaluate our driving performance on surface streets and freeways.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

• 8+ years of product management experience
• Experience in analytical roles or machine learning roles, working with data scientists
• Experience innovating over large time horizons in a highly uncertain, deeply technical environment
• Ability to think about long-term product vision, and then decompose that into concrete, actionable plans with cross-org alignment

It's preferred if you have:

• Master's degree in a technical or engineering field or MBA, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience working on a product where safety was a top priority and interfaced with System Engineering, Safety Researchers, or government entities
• Experience working in data infrastructure and/or cloud computing
• Experience working with autonomous vehicles or robotics
• Experience with vehicle rules of the road
• Experience working with regulatory agencies (DMV, CPUC, NHTSA)
