Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

Be part of the founding team of a new product inside Atlassian! We’re building our first ever security-focused product and are looking for an experienced Product Manager and leader to join the Shepherd- Point A team. You will inspire and energize teams across Atlassian to define the vision, evaluate product opportunities, analyze industry trends as well as customer and partner needs, and prioritize features and improvements. Your work will impact millions of users including some of the leaders in their industries, now and for the next decade, as you define the foundations for how teams connect, collaborate, and accomplish amazing things.

What is Shepherd?
Shepherd is a threat detection tool, being built as part of “Point A,” the new product framework. While Atlassian has never built this kind of product before, that doesn’t mean we have to invent it from scratch. We have a tremendous opportunity to build upon existing components to dramatically reduce the overhead required in launching a new product.
Why join Shepherd?
There are some major advantages in joining Shepherd beyond the opportunity to define a product from scratch. This product will require ramping up on a variety of technological domains - security, data science, stream processing, and observability.
You will have that opportunity to rapidly synthesize and then teach a growing team as we progress through the “make” product development stages.
You’ll be joining an extremely lean and fast-moving team that is currently just under 10 people, sprinting to our first alpha release later in 2022.

You'll love this role if:

  • You love working hard to make products as amazing as possible for customers.
  • You have prior success in leading product teams, setting product vision and strategy and launching excellent products.
  • You can lead the team through setting clear goals, making decisions, and communicating crisply to your team, to leaders across Atlassian, and to our customers and partners.
  • You are deeply analytical and have a passion for user experience. You often think in first principles and are familiar with building platforms.

We’re hoping you have a mix of the below (doesn’t have to be all!):

  • Significant experience in product management at a fast-growing software company and experience of running a product team
  • Zero to one founding experience on a new product initiative
  • Comfortable with security domain & finding product market fit in a new vertical for atlassian
  • Experience with Information Security Architecture/Analysis, including- CASB, proxy-based threat detection, incident response and security detection tools, understanding threat models in cloud products, admin-level familiarity with Atlassian product
  • Experience with enterprise customers of Atlassian
  • Ideally: experience with Threat Intelligence- knowledge of how companiesmonitor for new attacks and develop of new detections, understand the current scope, and gaps, of audit logs coming from Access

More about our Team

Product Management at Atlassian is responsible for the complete product offering, from early stage research and ideation, through implementation and iteration based on key success metrics. We're dedicated to agile methodology and are believers in 'lean', which means we despise documentation for documentations sake. We are deeply self-driven and do our very best at all times to validate assumptions about our users with various types of testing. We are not looking for product managers who just want to concentrate on one area, such as user research or visual design – we need you to be eager to deliver across the entirety of the product development lifecycle. We keen for you to bring experience that you can impart on the rest of us but also have to be interested to improve in many other skills, and be driven to constantly learn and improve.

More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.

From Amsterdam and Austin, to Sydney and San Francisco, we’re looking for people who want to write the future and who believe that we can accomplish so much more together than apart. At Atlassian, we’re committed to an environment where everyone has the autonomy and freedom to thrive, as well as the support of like-minded colleagues who are motivated by a common goal to: Unleash the potential of every team.
