At Scribd (pronounced “scribbed”), we believe reading is more important than ever. Join our cast of characters as we work to change the way the world reads by building the world’s largest and most fascinating digital library: giving subscribers access to a growing collection of ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, documents, Scribd Originals, and more. In addition to works from major publishers and top authors, our community includes over 1.9 M subscribers in nearly every country worldwide.

Have you heard about our future of work program, Scribd Flex? As a key principle, we embrace flexibility and allow employees, in partnership with their manager, to choose the work-style that best suits their individual needs and preferences. And, we create intentional in-person moments with each other that build culture and connection.

About the team

The product team is looking for a driven, innovative, and collaborative Senior Product Manager who can advocate for users in creating and optimizing a high-quality search experience.

In this critical role, you will define our search roadmap from ranking to user interface, and execute on high-profile initiatives across the broader machine learning and discovery teams.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who is comfortable using data to develop priorities and assess results, while also demonstrating a deep understanding of customer needs and wants, and stay on top of trends in both digital content consumption and search.

About you

  • You are a customer-centric Senior Product Manager who loves reading. You ensure that we remain focused on users and that our work really makes a difference for them.
  • You have the ability to set a strategy and vision to determine where we want to go in the future, and determine the immediate steps to get there.
  • You view your role as a cross-functional partner. You understand that your work doesn’t stop after requirements are written, and you work with your team through execution.
  • You pair developed intuitions and “trusting your gut” with deep analytical thinking and a learning mindset, to focus on the things that matter most and build long-lasting products.
  • You know how to inspire, motivate and support a team to get things done.

You will

  • Enhance the experience users have both as prospects and as subscribers when they search and evaluate content across devices
  • Establish a reasonable evaluation method of search experience in order to consistently improve the quality of results
  • Partner with design and user research to create an interactive experience affecting both what and how results can be refined and explored
  • Explore opportunities to leverage user signals, implicit and explicit, to improve query formulation and results for more tailored and interactive results per user.
  • Construct a product roadmap using domain knowledge and partnerships to prioritize opportunities for the discovery platform. This requires evaluating difficult trade-offs and making bets with partial information.
  • Set a strategy for search that inspires teams across design, engineering, product, marketing and data science to understand the role that search plays within a user’s broader discovery experience

You Have

  • A drive to improve quality for users while achieving business goals
  • 3+ years of product management focused on search or discovery
  • Comfort in the unknown, and you embrace ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience building for the future while delivering today
  • Familiarity with both quantitative (e.g. AB testing and data analytics) and qualitative (e.g. user testing, card sorts, interviews) research methods
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills (preferred)
  • Experience in large-scale search platforms (preferred)
