Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.

Keeping users safe is crucial for Discord's growth. As a Senior Product Manager for Safety, you’ll drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Discord’s scaled content moderation tools and systems. You’ll partner closely with our Engineering, ML, Data Science, and Trust & Safety teams to deliver safety solutions at scale. We're seeking an impact-driven, collaborative, and hands-on Product Manager to steer this team. This role reports into the Director of Product for Trust.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our scaled content moderation tools and systems.
  • Define and own performance against key business metrics and proactively report progress against those goals to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with our Engineering and Safety ML teams to leverage and deploy cutting edge technology at scale to solve safety problems.
  • Cultivate deep empathy with our Trust & Safety Operations teams, and partner closely with with them to build creative solutions.
  • Independently make decisions for your product area, gain buy-in from leadership, and act as a momentum catalyst for your execution team.
  • Employing rigor and practical prioritization to balance day-to-day execution with long-term vision — you must be comfortable moving quickly to respond to the moving target of abuse on Discord.

What you should have

  • 7+ years product management experience or experience building and shipping great software, including responsibilities driving prioritization, trade-offs, and timelines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work very well cross-functionally.
  • Sufficient technical expertise to dive into the details and challenge solutions with Engineering and Machine Learning stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with machine learning basics and trends, from traditional methods to the latest in generative AI. You don't need to be a super-expert, but you should be able to cut through the buzz and help us find practical, efficient solutions that actually work at scale.
  • The humility to do whatever is necessary to drive impact, to thrive in ambiguous environments, and to get excited about finding solutions to complex problems.
  • A passion for games and the gaming industry.

Bonus Points

  • Previous work in spam, anti-abuse, or trust & safety domain
  • Passionate about building solutions for internal customers
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical experience
