Senior Product Manager, Retrieval Systems

What’s the role?

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager to join our retrieval sciences team and drive the vision and strategy for Search technology services at Etsy.

As the Sr. Product Manager, you will understand the overall search architecture and ongoing initiatives, analyze query patterns, and develop intuition for how Search is used at Etsy. You will apply this intuition to productize the various Search technology services (graph search, neural information retrieval, etc.) that other teams at Etsy can use to build a class leading Search experience for buyers and sellers on Etsy.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Group Product Manager, Search Platform and the base salary range will be 149,000 - 193,000 USD per year. What’s this team like at Etsy?

At Etsy, the Information Retrieval & Orchestration Platform team builds innovative search, indexing and ML orchestration technologies. We build innovative based Retrieval Systems and seek to productize them to enable Etsy teams to complete and ship their ML projects faster. We do this by closely working with a team of highly capable engineers and ML scientists and by applying product thinking to drive business value. We balance several sets of requirements, solving near-term problems while making progress towards a long term strategic vision.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Establish partnerships with internal customers, understand their scenarios and priorities. Apply this insight to define how using IR technologies can be used to grow key business metrics.
• Work with engineering to design the right platforms to understand the ML dev cycle at Etsy and build platform capabilities supporting all stages of development.
• Prioritize partner requirements and define work streams. Evangelize the information retrieval services and facilitate partner onboarding.
• Drive key initiatives around growing ML application at Etsy, observability and performance improvements
• Define clear OKRs and goals that can determine if we are making progress towards ML Enablement

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 5+ years experience in technical product management, preferably in Search/ Ads and Information Retrieval related areas.
• Ability to analyze large amounts of data, build insights and find opportunities or areas of growth.
• Ability to map Search technologies to business or user problems and clearly articulate how Search tech can help solve those problems.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, and product intuition with the ability to evolve product strategy based on research, data and industry trends.
• Experience with machine learning, search and/ or two-sided marketplaces.
