Job Overview:

As Senior Product Manager, Platform Services, you’ll own the vision, strategy and execution for a brand new team that will own the core services that power Coursera. These services are the foundation for the features that millions of learners, educators and admins across the world use each day when learning and teaching on Coursera. Initially this role will be responsible for services such as the notifications infrastructure, translations infrastructure, email and CML (Coursera Markup Language) with additional services to be owned by the team as it grows. This role has a direct impact on enabling multiple product teams to ship features faster, reliably and scalably which are central to the company's mission to transform people’s lives at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and evangelize the vision for Platform Services and build buy-in from internal stakeholders
  • Own the Platform Services long-term roadmap and drive material improvements in the core services that help achieve company-level OKRs
  • Deeply understand product teams’ needs (and those of their customers) for common services and identify key opportunities and gaps
  • Work with engineering teams to build services with smart tradeoffs that balance time to market, quality and scope

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years as a product manager building best-in-class platform services at scale
  • Owned end-to-end creation of a platform strategy, long-term roadmap & execution that led to step change in platform capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to understand stakeholder needs, make tough tradeoffs and build agreement around roadmap decisions
  • Experienced with technical platform details such as communication protocols, APIs, 3rd-party integrations and more; can communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background working in CS, DS, engineering or similar technical fields
  • Prior domain experience in education, online learning, instructional design or similar fields
  • Experience in email, notifications, translation / internationalization (i18n)
  • Experience in creating or delivering ML/AI based data products
