The Company You’ll Join

At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.

We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.

At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With

You will be a Product Manager on a world class Product team that drives business impact and helps us realize our mission of democratizing equity and ownership so we can help close the wealth inequality gap. You will work with one of the most exciting startup businesses in the world: CartaX. The CartaX team is responsible for building a brokerage platform and private stock market from the ground up that allows employees and early investors to trade their shares of pre-IPO companies. CartaX is the world’s first vertically integrated financial marketplace for private assets and we’ve just started. The CartaX team is composed of experts in building and operating marketplaces and brokerages, as well as a diverse set of team members with backgrounds in capital markets and SaaS platforms.

The Problems You’ll Solve

An integral part of the CartaX brokerage account is the cash management account. This service is used for buyers to fund their accounts, and Issuers and sellers to collect their funds as part of a t+0 settlement. Safe, reliable, and scalable money management is crucial to a brokerage account.

As a product manager, you will be responsible for owning CartaX’s money movement service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, improving our Cash Management Account customer interface, increasing international payment coverage, working with third party vendors, and leading a team of engineers.

About You

We are looking for a product manager who is skilled at navigating money movement for private markets. We need someone who can drive discovery, ideation, prioritization, problem solving, and product delivery. If you are passionate about building intuitive solutions to complex problems that drive direct value to users, we would love to talk with you. In addition, we’re prioritizing:

  • You are a master of your craft. You have knowledge of money movement, and have experience in private markets.
  • You are comfortable with technology. Getting your toes wet in engineering doesn’t scare you. You enjoy collaborating closely with engineers on engineering specifications, and you have familiarity with development tools and frameworks like Docker and GitLab
  • You trust but verify. As a product owner, you help drive and participate in testing
  • You know how to drive a product. You have experience with project management and scrum management. You have a desire to become a product manager responsible for outline product requirements and ensuring products come to fruition
  • You are comfortable with design iteration.  You have familiarity with design and prototyping tools like Figma
  • You have outstanding collaboration skills. You enjoy working cross functionally, and have the ability to keep all teams working synchronously. You excel at working with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
  • You are highly organized. You pay close attention to detail and you are skilled at sequencing competing priorities quickly.
  • You bias to action. You move fast. You are fearless when trying something new. You are comfortable taking on risk in pursuit of a new idea, because the biggest risk in our business is missing a good idea. You ask what could go right, and relentlessly find the fastest path to value.
  • You seek to simplify. You use your intellectual firepower to create simple and elegant solutions to complex problems. In everything you do, you strive to make things as simple as possible, but no simpler.
  • You embrace constraints. You are gritty. You would rather operate with constraints than abundance because constraints breed ingenuity, resourcefulness, and creativity. When you start a project you ask how much you can accomplish in a certain timeframe or budget, not how much time or budget you need to accomplish the project.
  • You optimize first derivatives. Progress matters more than perfection. While others focus on absolute value goals, you obsess over getting better every day.
  • You live our mission. You strive to create a fairer and more equitable world. You celebrate the unique strengths of others and actively seek out new and diverse perspectives. You assume the best of others and bring the best of yourself.
  • You do the right thing. Most people make decisions using an Expected Value calculation. You don’t. You make decisions by asking, “what’s the right thing to do?” Doing the right thing is how we balance competing perspectives and near-term and long-term goals.
  • You play in the open.  Transparency is the checksum on integrity. You work and communicate out in the open for all to see. You don’t trade on rumors and don’t believe in secrets.

Most importantly you're excited to work on a product that will fundamentally change the way private companies view liquidity, going public and how employees exercise their options.
