What You'll Do

  • Drive the strategic vision for Mapbox Studio, a powerful web application for designing custom maps, and for
    GL-JS, a powerful web rendering engine, that collectively enable map experiences for over 650M active users
    every month.
  • Own the overall user experience for Mapbox Studio users and GL-JS developers and the underlying APIs that
    power these tools to enable scalable, responsive and reliable styles, sprites, fonts, and a rendering engine.
  • Drive roadmap planning and maintenance across multiple products and teams to drive a consistent map design
    and web rendering experience for all customers.

  • Prototype new Studio features using design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD) and interfaces that simplify map
    design for customers.
  • Test and validate prototypes with users and refine features based on learnings.
  • Work with designers and engineers to develop data schema specifications for core Mapbox basemap data layers
    and corresponding Style Components for inclusion in Mapbox Studio.
  • Implement product metrics and telemetry to assess customer usage of existing features.
  • Drive ongoing analysis of customer usage patterns with the team.
  • Improve existing automated and human-assisted data validation and visual rendering processes that detect and
    prevent defects in map data and map design/rendering.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 100% remote, job may be performed anywhere in the U.S.

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related
    technical field, followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience with productivity software.
    Prior experience must include:
    • 4 years of experience working with cross-functional teams;
    • 4 years working with SQL and reporting on business insights from customer data;
    • 4 years supporting product launches and working with go-to-market teams to ensure a successful product
    launch;
    • 5 years of experience interacting with customers; and,
    • 2 years of experience running customer research and synthesizing user needs into product priorities, roadmap
    plans, and detailed specifications.
