Overview

Terraform and Ansible are critical tools in modern infrastructure management, each excelling at different stages of the infrastructure lifecycle. Terraform defines, provisions, and manages infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code, while Ansible Automation Platform enables powerful automation and configuration infrastructure operations post-deployment. By deeply integrating these products, we aim to create a seamless workflow spanning provisioning, configuration, and ongoing operational management.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to drive deeper integration between Terraform and Ansible, specifically HCP Terraform and Ansible Automation Platform, to unlock advanced infrastructure automation workflows. You will lead the effort in defining product strategy, delivering highly cohesive experiences, and enabling organizations to streamline end-to-end infrastructure operations across provisioning, configuration, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Define and execute the vision for deeper product integration between HCP Terraform and Ansible Automation Platform.
    • Identify opportunities for seamless handoff between Terraform’s infrastructure provisioning and Ansible’s post-provisioning automation and configuration management workflows.
    • Drive the creation of native integrations, enabling Terraform and Ansible users to achieve infrastructure lifecycle automation end-to-end

Integration and Workflow Development:

    • Design workflows that enhance interoperability between Terraform’s infrastructure management and Ansible’s configuration management capabilities.
    • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams from both Terraform and Ansible to ensure seamless technical integration.
    • Explore and enable advanced automation workflows such as drift remediation, operational runbooks, compliance enforcement, and incident response by leveraging strengths of both Terraform and Ansible

Roadmap Prioritization and Delivery

    • Own and manage the product roadmap for the Terraform and Ansible integration, prioritizing high-impact integration points.
    • Develop clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) to guide engineering teams in creating intuitive integrations and new workflows.
    • Partner with engineering teams from HashiCorp and Ansible to deliver integration features on-time and at high quality.
  • Customer-Centric Product Development:
    • Engage closely with Terraform and Ansible users, understanding current gaps and opportunities to enhance infrastructure automation workflows.
    • Conduct customer interviews, usability testing, and market research to ensure integrations directly address real-world user needs.
    • Continuously iterate and refine integration features based on customer and community feedback.
  • Cross-Organization Collaboration:
    • Collaborate extensively with Red Hat and the Ansible Automation Platform teams to align integration priorities and ensure product compatibility.
    • Foster relationships across ecosystems, leveraging the strengths of both Terraform and Ansible to deliver a cohesive user experience.
  • Go-to-Market Support:
    • Collaborate with marketing, sales, support, and solutions engineering teams to effectively position and market the Terraform-Ansible integration.
    • Develop messaging highlighting the combined value of theTerraform and Ansible workflows for enterprise infrastructure automation.
    • Enable customer-facing teams to articulate clearly the benefits and competitive differentiation of the integrated product.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of product management experience with developer tools, infrastructure automation, configuration management.
  • Strong technical understanding of Terraform, Ansible Automation Platform, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows.
  • Experience designing or managing integrations between complex technical products or platforms.
  • Familiarity with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their ecosystems.
  • Proven track record of successful collaboration with external technology partners or ecosystem integrations.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize roadmap items based on customer and strategic impact, balancing open-source and commercial interests.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly in cross-company collaborations.

  • Collaborating with engineering and design to enhance cross-product workflows and address novel gaps in the complete management, configuration, and automation of infrastructure.
  • Enabling go-to-market teams with compelling positioning, product insights, and customer-focused messaging

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.

The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:
$233,800$275,000 USD
The base pay range for this role in California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., or Maryland is:
$214,300$252,100 USD
The base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:
$194,800$229,200 USD
