We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to join our Growth team in North America. You will lead a team of talented engineering and design partners to advance our mission to help everyone with a need for automation find success with Zapier. Zapier’s on a mission to make everyone more productive at work. Zapier has helped millions of people build businesses through the power of automation.

This role owns the outcomes of the first-time experience for new Zapier users — playing an incredibly important in the long-term health and success of Zapier. This role will be in charge of shaping the first mile of the user experience and being accountable for some of our most important metrics.

You’ll create the product experience to guide new users to find value with Zapier and help them discover applications of Zapier for sustained usage. We serve new users who have just signed up for Zapier and are early in their journey of experiencing benefits from Zapier, intending to evolve them to steady-state users. Leveraging data, recommendations, and contextually relevant onboarding guidance, we create a tailored and personalized experience to streamline and accelerate their path to value. As the engineering partner to a Product Manager and Product Designer, you will work cross-functionally to set the roadmap and strategy for the team. You’ll partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Support as close stakeholders in our strategic initiative to expand upmarket and help our GTM teams identify new upmarket leads and find new opportunities for users and Sales to connect with potential customers.

About You

  • This isn't your first PM rodeo. You have 6+ years of product management experience, where you have experience setting a product strategy, and are hands on with execution. Experience working on a developer platform is preferred.

  • You own outcomes; you know how to get results. Through collaboration with your team you routinely deliver meaningful results for the business. You share and celebrate and build momentum around positive results. You learn and course correct when you don’t get the results you want.

  • You communicate the vision and strategy for your team and then make it happen. You work with leadership to refine your team’s vision and strategy and set a 12 month roadmap for how you'll solve those problems. You know how to turn vision into goals, goals into a roadmap, and a roadmap into daily and weekly tasks for your team. You excel at keeping a cross-functional team of designers, researchers, engineers, data analysts, and product marketers working effectively and efficiently.

  • You are data driven. You use data to uncover opportunities and understand what levers to pull to drive business results. You know how to measure the results of your work, test it with real users, and understand its downstream effects. You consider the long term impacts of experiments and look for more than just a short term boost to metrics.

  • You have ample technical, design, and analytics skills. While you may or may not know how to code, you use your technical context to make better, faster decisions and to minimize technical debt. You understand design patterns and can create functional specs and wireframes. You can use self-serve data exploration tools to support your own decision making. While you'll have resources on your team that are experts in these areas, you can fill in the gaps whenever needed

  • You are a skilled written communicator. Zapier is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication. You can use written communication to communicate your team’s vision, roadmap, and progress. You know the right tool for the job whether it’s managing the day-to-day cadence of projects or building cross-company momentum around a project.

  • You love doing things efficiently. At Zapier, the work you do will have a disproportionate impact on the business. We believe in systems and processes that let us scale our impact to be larger than ourselves.

  • You advocate for the facts. Before shipping a feature you can identify metrics and user feedback that will help you measure the success of a feature.

Things You’ll Do

  • Communicate a vision for the team looking out 3-12 months and build a roadmap to match that vision

  • Work in a small, autonomous, cross-functional team alongside design, engineering, UX research, and data to decide what we build next and execute on that decision

  • Talk with our customers and stakeholders to more deeply understand the problems that we can address for them

  • Work closely with product designers on solutions by writing specs and creating wireframes

  • Develop a sufficient understanding of technical context to help make better, faster decisions, and work closely with engineers on solutions

  • Dig deep on data to understand trends and develop a better picture of the business, the product, or our customers.

  • Measure and report on the results of your work

  • And above all, help customers have the best experience with Zapier as possible.

Zapier Compensation Guiding Principles

We believe all Zapiens should be rewarded competitively and equitably, using practices that are simple and transparent. This philosophy ensures we’re able to find, grow, and retain exceptional people from a broad range of backgrounds. Here’s how we define our compensation principles:

  • Competitive: Zapier pays well among the technology sector.

  • Equitable: Consistent pay practices; competency-based pay.

  • Simple: Pay is well understood, and pay practices are built for scale.

  • Transparent: Zapiens know how pay works, including how their pay is determined.

The pay ranges for this role are:

United States: 167,400/ 209,200/ 251,00 USD

Canada: 167,400/ 209,200/ 251,00 CAD

A Candidate's compensation package is finalized once the interview process is concluded and accounts for experience, competencies (job knowledge, skills and abilities) and internal equity. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means we set pay for all Zapier employees based on their competency and skills demonstrated in their role. In alignment with that philosophy, the upper half of a pay range is typically reserved for individuals who have consistently demonstrated a high level of job knowledge and skills for their current role and level while at Zapier.

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of education or companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact [email protected].

Even though we’re an all-remote company, we still need to be thoughtful about where we have Zapiens working. Check out this resource for a list of countries where we currently cannot have Zapiens permanently working.
