About the role:
As our very first Growth Product Manager, you will be working with a new squad focusing on both member activation and helping us expand and define defensible distribution channels. This means you will be researching, experimenting, and establishing new experiences to better activate members while experimenting with new and existing distribution channels. We’re aiming to build and scale ways for people to encounter SCF that cannot be easily replicated by current or future competitors.
You will be responsible for expanding and establishing defensible distribution channels, this will help the company decrease the cost of making additional sales over time. This efficiency will create what's commonly referred to as a growth flywheel.
You will interview customers and deeply understand their needs, pain points, and desires. Working with a cross-functional squad, you will identify new ways to help people with what they need while pulling them into Scott’s Cheap Flights experience, at scale. We have some ambitious goals, but that's never stopped someone like you (or us)!
You will need several core competencies to be successful in this role:

Growth Execution
Channel Fluency, Experimentation, Productizing learnings
Growth Strategy
Growth loop modeling, Capital allocation & forecasting, Prioritization & road mapping
Communication-Influence
Team leadership, Strategic communication, Stakeholder Management
Customer Knowledge
Instrumentation & data fluency, User Psychology, Creative & Narrative Development
To be clear, one person will not have all these competencies. We’re looking for 4/5.We will invest in supporting your growth too (no pun intended). This is a huge opportunity to join a special (we’re bootstrapped and profitable) company at a key inflection point. Help us surpass our members’ expectations and take their experience to new heights.

In the short term, you will:

  • Dive into our business to deeply understand our product and business goals
  • Explore & expand existing distribution channels (i.e SEO, Teams)
  • Establish a regular cadence of interviewing members. We practice Continuous Discovery, believe in facilitating product research, and validate our riskiest assumptions. You should be an expert in our members - past, present, and future.
  • Lead documentation and communication throughout the entirety of the product lifecycle for both technical processes as well as cross-functional teams that may be affected by changes. We’re a remote first company, so strong documentation & communication are vital.
  • Co-define your product outcomes that are leading indicators to our lagging business outcomes
  • Work with your team leads (design, engineering, flight expert/product ops) to shape & ship features our members value highly.

In the long term, you will:

  • As our first Growth Product Manager, your mission will be to own SCF’s strategies for user engagement to drive business growth through initiatives like evolving our free experience, and onboarding to name a few
  • Build and scale difficult-to-replicate customer acquisition channels that align with the product experience (i.e. product-channel fit)
  • Understand our customers (and their Jobs to be Done) and explore new ways we can delight them in hard to copy, margin enhancing ways.
  • Collaborate with the Data team, Customer Success and Marketing to understand the problems and pain points that our users are experiencing and identify how we can unlock more upgrades and increase conversion rates
  • Evaluate existing onboarding funnel optimization opportunities and conduct large scale hypothesis-driven feature development through qualitative and quantitative research and A/B, multivariate tests
  • Lead a product development team while working with cross functional product and design teams to drive adoption of our features by ensuring value is obvious at every step

What you bring to the table:

  • Innovation: You have a track record of optimizing existing product lines, and building new, revenue-generating ones from the ground-up. You can articulate the “first principles of product management” (Spoiler: We think they’re found in Continuous Discovery).
  • Design Mind: You have a background in design, or have worked very closely with design. You understand that a Product Designer does a lot more than make something pretty.
  • Empathetic Leader: People love working with you, but it’s not because you agree with everything they say. You push back and go deeper but always with deep respect and tact. You listen carefully when others are speaking, and offer your insights judiciously. You lead without authority.
  • Product Execution: You have experience in every stage of the product cycle - planning, discovery, development, testing, analysis, and sunsetting.
  • Data Driven: You have experience with data analysis and hypothesis-driven experimentation, and have worked closely with data analysts in past roles.
  • Change Agent: You aren't afraid to think outside the box, and you are deeply curious about “defaults” (why things are the way they are).
  • Simplifying Complexity: You value clarity over verboseness. You always strive to be efficient.
  • Big Picture Thinking: You are able to develop products that tie together member opportunities and what is most strategically sound for the business.
  • Must have's:
  • Excels at communicating with team, partners, and executives with clarity, salience, and urgency.
  • Comfortability with ambiguity
  • Knowledge of testing processes
  • Knowledge and keen interest in Growth
  • Experience conducting customer interviews and using insights to build high-impact products
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and plan to work full-time in the United States
  • Nice to have's:
  • Experience with Continuous Discovery
  • Previous experience experimenting and creating effective growth loops
  • Subscription experience
  • Consumer brand experience
