We're a global leader in account-to-account payments, making it easy for merchants to collect both recurring and one-off payments directly from customer's bank accounts. Our global payments network and technology platform take the pain out of getting paid for 65,000 businesses worldwide, from multinational corporations to small businesses. Each year we process US$20 billion of payments across more than 30 countries. We're headquartered in the UK, with additional offices in Australia, France, Germany and the United States.
We believe world-class Product Management is crucial to the continued success of our product and company. As a result, we’ve created an environment that ensures our Product Managers have the opportunity to constantly learn, are empowered to take calculated risks, and contribute to developing best practices that other companies emulate. Our Product team is focused on three areas:
Product Growth’s mission is to “Drive growth by accelerating and amplifying value delivered to customers”. We do this by identifying the most impactful revenue opportunities across GC’s product suite and executing against them by building insight-driven product improvements.
As a Senior Product Manager you will work closely with a Technical Lead and Engineering Manager to lead one or more of our cross-functional product development teams. Teams are responsible for their product area, and deliver impactful change autonomously, in line with the overall product strategy.
Your primary objective is the growth of our business, and your primary customer is the Small Business Organisation. As part of a cross functional small business group, you will bring a novel and innovative approach to growth that uses the products and interactions that our merchants and payers love.
We are looking for self-starting Product Managers to tackle interesting product problems across multiple teams. Across all Product Management roles, we expect responsibilities to include:
Experimenting with step-change growth initiatives: Working with your cross functional PD team, you will look for signals and find creative ways to experiment across the entire product on initiatives that will step-change the growth of our business.
Dealing with ambiguity: Taking complex and ambiguous product problems and structuring these effectively. This includes clearly defining the problem space, the impact of the problem and the trade-offs made in making prioritisation decisions.
Data-driven decision-making: Using data and broader market trends to support your trade-off decisions and problem impact estimations.
Influencing and communication: Building relationships with your team, stakeholders and executives to deliver change effectively across your remit. This includes growing to become the ‘go-to’ person for your product area; translating complex, technical problems into understandable concepts; and convincing stakeholders of the best approach using structured reasoning.
Customer advocacy: Understanding the needs of your key customers on an ongoing basis, and using this to drive effective prioritisation decisions.
Shipping stuff: Working with your team to drive changes to completion, delivering consistent positive impact across your product area.
Senior Product Managers are also expected to take a meaningful role in shaping our Product Management Organisation, mentoring colleagues and playing a leading role in defining our product strategy.
We believe great Product Managers share common characteristics, and we look for these above all else:
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills: We want our Product Managers to have an outstanding ability to tackle interesting problems. At GoCardless we start by asking ‘why?’, and a data-led approach is central to how we run Product.
Curiosity and drive: We’re after people who aren’t afraid of a challenge and will have a go, stay curious and adapt to a constantly changing environment. Our Product Managers are highly motivated to drive things to completion, delivering great impact with their teams.
Collaborative leaders: Product roles bring responsibility without direct authority. We’re looking for leaders who can motivate and earn the trust of stakeholders and teams with a collaborative approach.
Born entrepreneurs: We are looking for product managers who have experience and passion for finding growth through experimentation programmes on high usage products.
Candidates should have a track record of examples of success in a challenging scale-up product environment. We expect our Senior Product Managers to have proven their ability to deliver great products, and be able to demonstrate the impact they have had and the value they have brought to customers.
Bonus points for:
Our team comes from a range of backgrounds, and we welcome diversity. Even if your experience doesn’t tick all of the boxes, please apply - we’d love to hear from you.
When it comes to culture, we're proud of what we call the 'GC magic'. It's primarily defined by our values: Start With Why, Be Humble, Act with Integrity, and Care Deeply. They've been our bedrock since day one, and they continue to be one of the key factors of our success, and the reason we love showing up to work every day.
Because we're now delivering on our important, and ambitious vision to become the world's account-to-account payment network, we're working at pace. To help clear the path to success - so any obstacles and blockers don't slow us down - we've introduced our own set of operating principles, which live alongside our values. They're designed to help us successfully navigate our continued growth by helping us work together better. They provide guideposts around some of the key areas of how we operate so things are smoother, easier and ultimately lead to better outcomes. Read more about our values and operating principles here.
There's lots more to the magic. We view Diversity and inclusion as a business imperative, so we have a leader whose role it is to ensure we create an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds can thrive, and where people from all walks of life want to join us. We also have high engagement with our GeeCee-led 'employee resource groups' (such as BEAM, Inspiring, Pride, and Access) that are supported and sponsored by members of our Exec team. You can view our latest Gender Pay Gap report here.
We're also rolling out our 'Adaptive Working' and 'Work Way' schemes. Adaptive Working will allow you to work flexibly, and in a way that fits around your lifestyle, whilst still ensuring teams can collaborate effectively and get together and socialise. It comprises three components: days in the office, remote working, and a thoughtful environment. Work Away gives the flexibility to work away from your normal place of work for up to 90 days in any 12 month period.
We also offer enhanced parental leave, pension packages, and you'll receive equity. Having this 'buy in' is a vital part of building a successful business where everybody - regardless of their role - can make a valuable contribution.
There's also our legendary 'GC Fridays'. They're four additional all-company days off every year, giving GeeCees a chance to switch off and relax, as a token of thanks for everyone's hard work and commitment.
