The Role

This role will be working within the Fraud Prevention team in our Merchant Operations Group. The Fraud Prevention team plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of the GoCardless platform by building systems that prevent and detect merchant fraud before it impacts our business or our customers.

The Fraud Prevention Senior Product Manager will work closely with the team’s Engineers and Fraud Analysts to lead product and systems improvements that strengthen our fraud defences. You’ll focus on enhancing signals, automating controls, and reducing false positives without introducing unnecessary friction. You’ll also collaborate with teams across the organisation to ensure our fraud prevention capabilities scale with the business and support a seamless customer experience.

What excites you
  • Delivering customer and business value: Relentlessly focused on understanding and resolving customer problems to maximise their engagement with GoCardless, especially in the fraud prevention space.
  • Problem discovery and prioritisation: Taking complex, ambiguous issues - such as evolving fraud tactics - and structuring clear, impactful solutions. Prioritising initiatives based on impact and feasibility.
  • Data-led decision-making: Using both quantitative and qualitative evidence to identify opportunities, evaluate risks, and guide product strategies effectively.
  • Defining Product Strategy: Developing a long-term approach for fraud prevention, working across teams to identify key areas for investment and improvement that benefit both customers and the organisation.
  • Influencing and communication: Building strong relationships with engineering, risk, and executive stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear strategies, and earning trust to drive initiatives.
  • Leadership: Setting direction for the product area, coordinating cross-functional teams, and guiding the evolution of fraud prevention capabilities.
  • Shipping stuff: Leading the delivery of new initiatives, from experimental pilots to scalable features, ensuring timely impact and continuous improvement.
What excites us
  • Delivery of impact: Demonstrated success in delivering tangible business value through experimentation, iteration, and strategic product management.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to address complex customer and operational problems with a structured, data-informed approach, asking ‘why?’ and uncovering root causes.
  • High agency: Proactive mindset with comfort in taking ownership of ambiguity-driven challenges, adapting quickly, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative leaders: Ability to influence without direct authority, motivate cross-functional teams, and foster trust with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

The Good Stuff!

  • Wellbeing: Dedicated support and medical cover to keep you healthy.
  • Work Away Scheme: Work from anywhere for up to 90 days in any 12-month period.
  • Hybrid Working: Our hybrid model offers flexibility, with in-office days determined by your team.
  • Equity: All permanently employed GeeCees get equity to share in our success.
  • Parental leave: Tailored leave to support your life's great adventure.
  • Time Off: Generous holidays, 3 volunteer days, and 4 wellness days annually.
