Your mission:

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi-currency banking. Wise is growing fast and with that the challenge to mitigate financial crime risks also grows and money laundering is an important risk to mitigate to unlock Wise on its mission.

Your mission is to build convenient & scalable anti-money laundering product capabilities that effectively mitigate financial crime risks on Wise products with minimal negative impact on customers’ experience.

This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission and push the limits of how financial crime risks are mitigated globally by using machine and human intelligence.

The AML Risk team is a part of the FinCrime squad at Wise.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the team:

  • You’ll own AML controls, machine intelligence and operational excellence as focus areas for the AML risk team.
  • You’ll be responsible for building vision and goals of the AML team, how to measure them and how to set the right KPIs to measure success - you'll make the decisions and define the product strategy with the team.
  • You will combine human expert knowledge with complex Machine Learning technology to exceed industry standards in customer risk scoring, and build a unified risk vision across compliance product teams, while guaranteeing a great experience for good customers and compliance with regulations around the world.
  • You’ll identify missing or weak AML controls and build more resilient controls that exceed regulatory compliance requirements and financial institutions standards
  • You’ll motivate teams by developing and constantly sharing a compelling vision for the product, driven by customer insight and data. You will be a thought leader in risk, working with other product teams to help them understand and measure risks and providing insights and data where necessary.
  • You'll be working with an independent and autonomous team of product engineers, analysts and data scientists. You’ll enable the team to make informed decisions and inspire the highest standards of execution.
  • You’ll clearly define success and evaluate progress with both qualitative and quantitative methods for the capabilities and adoption of the platform
  • You’ll empathise with our customer’s pain points and think of solutions to improve their experience

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Choose your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your team to create a vision of your own. Of course, you can always gather feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls
  • Truly make the world a better place by fighting crime. You will be stopping money launderers and will have a very clear and real impact on people’s lives.
  • Work with a group of strong and dedicated product managers, engineers, analysts, and operations.
  • Work with a modern microservices system with key parts written In-house, which allows to move fast and build controls and experiences that are above industry standards and push the boundaries of what is possible.
  • Grow as a leader - Grow and inspire your team to join our mission
  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal

About  you:

  • You’re a seasoned product manager that has shipped products, interpreted feedback and data and made important iterations
  • You have worked with an operations team and built product capabilities that help operations grow sustainably, improve efficiency and reach operational excellence.
  • You believe in the Wise mission and know how to inspire a team to dream big, align on a common vision, and draw a clear path to get there
  • You’re passionate about growing your team and getting the best out of people as well as continuing to grow and develop yourself
  • You have an understanding of how systems are built, and you’re able to write your own SQL to help your team prioritise and ship new features

Some extra skills that are great (but not essential):

  • You have some experience in Risk, Security, Trust & Safety or Compliance and evaluate product decisions with a risk impact mindset
  • You have worked with distributed product & operational teams.
  • You have experience in the Anti-Money Laundering domain

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.

Also, where and what you studied isn't important to us. If you’ve got great experience, the right skills for the role and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.
