Our mission is money without borders – instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free. But to build the world’s first true multi-currency banking infrastructure we have to move fast without compromising our reliability. Developer Enablement encompasses the path our product engineers take to ship features to our customers, focussing on optimising the user experience and the end to end efficiency.

In this role you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we scale our product development organisation with a cloud native approach. We aim to find just the balance between ‘you build it, you run it’ whereby everything we can centralise and abstract; we do, but where we absolutely need to add cognitive load to developers lives we do so mindfully.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Craft and implement a vision and strategy for developer enablement at Wise. By grounding this in a crystal clear understanding of how our teams work we can tackle the big impactful pain-points.
  • Work across multiple teams you’ll be accountable for defining and tracking critical metrics that measure the overall impact and success.
  • Choose your path to impact – we believe people are most empowered when they can act independently. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your teams and be supported by your lead to define your own path to impact.
  • Grow as a domain expert – Cloud Computing and banking infrastructure are only just beginning to make friends, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape this at a significant (and rapidly growing) scale.

This is a technical domain, but the product role isn’t there to provide the technical solution (we have great engineers for that), this role is about understanding our user needs, using data to drive prioritisation and setting a long term vision for the developer experience at Wise.

About you:

  • Proven experience leading a product team that deliver high quality user experience, through coaching and cultivating a product mindset you can keep the team aligned to the user needs and/or business outcomes without getting caught up in the tech
  • You’re empathetic, user focused, you don’t mind knocking on doors to gather user needs and feedback
  • You understand the fundamentals of a cloud native SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), and are intrinsically motivated by technical problems and you can evaluate potential avenues for how an experience could be improved
  • You can use quantitative and qualitative data to make tough priority calls between improving developer experience superficially vs changes that have a material impact on the cadence/quality of our releases
  • Passionate about outcomes over deliverables, able to measure the impact of them, understand tradeoffs and define what data we need to prove it
  • You’re a confident communicator and an evangelist for developer user experience and the benefits it brings to a scaling organisation. You are able to grasp and translate technical constructs into simple language that resonate with any audience through written or spoken mediums

We believe that diverse teams bring fresh perspectives, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.
