Bloom & Wild is re-inventing the $60B global flower industry. Over a billion flower exchanges take place every year and industry satisfaction levels are low. Driven by our vision of creating the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful, we do things differently. From inventing letterbox flowers to founding The Thoughtful Marketing Movement. And we’ve seen impressive traction to date - we are Europe’s leading online flower company, and the UK’s fastest growing ecommerce company according to the Financial Times, growing at +100%.

In January 2021 we announced our £75 million Series D funding round, led by General Catalyst (backers of Airbnb and Deliveroo), alongside other top tier investors including Index Ventures (investors in Wise and Glossier). We are home to a family of 3 strong brands, Bloom & Wild, boomon and Bergamotte, having acquired bloomon in April 2021 and Bergamotte in July 2021. Together, we are active in 8 countries.

We really care about creating a diverse and inclusive team and we welcome people from all backgrounds, with different perspectives, ideas and experiences to work with us. In our team, everyone has the freedom to give their opinion, grow in their career and be part of a genuinely caring and inclusive team.

Product at Bloom & Wild
The role of the product team at Bloom & Wild is to create value for our customers and for Bloom & Wild by developing user facing (e.g. websites, apps) and internal digital product (e.g. warehouse technologies).  We are a team of 15 people including Product Managers, Product Designers and Product Operations who report to the Chief Product Officer with the team located in London, Amsterdam and fully remote.  Over 70% of our Product team identify as female.

We have 7 full-stack squads which work in fortnightly sprints to deliver outcome focussed quarterly OKRs.  Each of these squads is responsible for all the strategic decision making within their Product area with an associated Product Manager.

The Data team comprises data scientists and data engineers working alongside a Product Manager.  The Product Manager works closely with stakeholders across the whole business to identify our most impactful outcomes and develop solutions with the team to create value.

The role and ways of working
As a Data Product Manager, you will work to solve important customer and business problems across our websites, apps, forecasting and back-end systems by utilising our data platform to build machine learned models that unlock value.  You will report to our Director of Product for Ecommerce and Apps.

You’ll work with stakeholders across the business to identify, understand and prioritise areas where data in general and machine learning in particular can improve outcomes and work with the Data Engineering and Data Science team to effectively deploy these models and integrate them with our Products (e.g. websites, apps, operational tooling) and processes.  We are an expanding, multi-brand, international business and you will need to balance high levels of ambiguity and autonomy whilst solving some of our biggest customer challenges.

As we broaden our range, the territories in which we operate and the volume of our customers we need experiences that will grow with us. We are seeking an individual passionate about customer experience to define and support the product roadmap for our Data Science and Data Engineering squads.

You will inherit a sophisticated data platform with very little legacy, production machine learning models driving business critical decisions and a switched-on, engaged team. We have seen our collective data effort drive material value in 2022. The question now is, where next?

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Cross-squad
  • Manage end-to-end definition and prioritisation of outcomes including maintaining the feature idea banks, roadmaps, and backlogs to achieve stretching business goals.
  • Communicate timelines, progress and roadmap with stakeholders to ensure they are up to date and our roadmap aligns to deliver business value
  • Work closely with the Head of Data to build company-wide expertise and appreciation of the application of Data Science and Data Engineering to drive business outcomes
  • Data Science
  • Working with stakeholders and data to build and maintain a deep understanding of users’ needs and pain points, both for existing processes and for ML models.
  • Collaborating with key business stakeholders to understand key business drivers, operational constraints and context and identify where it is appropriate to deploy ML models.
  • Monitor the performance of machine learning models in production - through A/B tests and on a continuous basis - investigating anomalies and keeping stakeholders updated with relevant commercial outcomes.
  • Managing the data science product development lifecycle process by providing the team with a deep understanding of the problem to be solved and business and customer context and working with the team to develop, deploy and embed these models into our Products.
  • Data Engineering
  • Balance the development of wider data platform capabilities - such as monitoring and alerting - with the tactical need to ingest new data sources and export data to new tools and systems.
  • Work with the Data Engineering squad and the Head of Data to develop a long-term plan for Data Engineering, to then be translated into an actionable roadmap

You:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager or (Technical) Product Owner, ideally in a B2C environment or similar type of business
  • Strong commercial judgement enabling you to form a deep understanding of our key business drivers and commercial context
  • Ability to structure, frame, prioritise and communicate problems and opportunities
  • An exceptionally strong communicator and influencer - able to develop clear recommendations in an ambiguous environment, process feedback and bring people together on journeys that may be perceived as uncomfortable
  • Naturally curious and customer-centric
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset
  • Pragmatic and agile approach to delivering value
  • Collaborative approach to solving problems
  • It would be nice if you also have...
  • A background in product, client service or consulting especially within an ecommerce environment
  • Experience working as part of an agile / lean development team
  • Experience working with and owning Data Science / ML products
