We are looking for a passionate, data driven and customer centric Senior Product Manager to help make build & deploy as simple as possible for our Xero Engineers.
You will work on challenging projects with our Build and Deploy teams to improve the experience of hundreds of engineers as they build & release software at speed. You will love getting stuck into the technical details, but will also be the first to apply your product mindset in driving the development of tools and processes that facilitate modern software deployment. You will be part of the Site Reliability Engineering group. Our goal is to provide platform solutions to enable Xero’s product development teams to build and ship software in a fast, reliable and secure manner while minimising cognitive load on product development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of a comprehensive product vision within our engineering domain, aligning with the overarching goals of Xero
- Engage in extensive user research, using both quantitative and qualitative data from various stakeholders to guide product development
- Drive key projects and initiatives, focusing on technology transitions and advancements, and effectively manage relationships with stakeholders
- Formulate and implement strategies for modern software development and operational tools, with an emphasis on continuous integration and deployment
- Prioritise the enhancement of critical software tools, aligning them with our strategic direction and exploring innovative technological solutions
- Actively promote and support the adoption of best practices in software engineering across the organisation, elevating the team's capabilities
- You’ll build healthy relationships with your stakeholders and ensure all stakeholders are updated appropriately on product vision, strategy, releases and roadmaps
- You’ll empower your team and Xero engineering pods to make decisions when fast, decentralised decision-making is appropriate to reduce delays, make improvements, enable faster feedback and more innovative solutions
What you'll bring:
- Bring a balanced mix of technical knowledge and product management expertise,Have a background or familiarity in key areas of software development and operations, with an appreciation for continuous integration and deployment practices
- Excellent communication skills, capable of advocating for product ideas and effectively conveying technical concepts to a varied audience
- Proven experience championing strategic priorities and helping others relate to and align with it. Proven experience setting product vision and strategy
- Proven experience using prioritisation models — can relay several different prioritisation models, when to use which and why
- Proven product experience — with an extensive toolbox of modern product discovery practices to draw upon. Proven experience coaching Product Managers
- Proven experience using a range of metrics to monitor the success and health of products and services. Proven experience of making evidence-based decisions
- A solid track record of addressing customer needs. Proven experience connecting teams closer with customers (and not just be a proxy for them)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills. Proven experience building meaningful, collaborative relationships across all levels of the business
