About the Role:
As a Sr. Product Manager at Bowery, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing technology strategies that support our vision of building and operating a network of smart indoor farms. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to revolutionize a multi-millennium-old institution and tackle some of the toughest challenges facing our planet – water scarcity, food security, and pesticide overuse among them.

You’ll steer our Software, Robotics, Automation, Hardware, Operations Engineering, and Data technology teams to bring priorities to life. You’ll dig deeply to understand root causes and recommend solutions. Your planning cycles will be continuous, and represent the evolving needs of Bowery’s dynamic business as well as your stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in helping Bowery scale from a local community of farms to a technology-powered network that operates and optimizes autonomously.

The Sr. Product Manager role will support Bowery’s agricultural and operational goals across existing and future farms. This will involve defining technology solutions that enhance our agricultural, operational, and commercial performance. You'll play a key role in expanding our proprietary technology platform, BoweryOS, developing data products to monitor farm and crop health, and facilitating the introduction of new crops into our product line.

This is a hybrid role. While we offer flexibility to work from home during the week, you’ll also be expected to join us at our headquarters in NYC part time (2-3days/week), as well as occasionally visit our farms in Baltimore, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to get to know your end users and product opportunity space.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop technology strategies aligned with our goals for crop yield, throughput, cost management, and loss reduction.
  • Define solutions to meet the needs of Bowery's agricultural and operations functions, including the development and operationalization of new crops and products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, particularly in Operations, Supply Chain, and Agricultural Science, to identify and prioritize roadmap initiatives.
  • Work closely with technology teams, including Software, Infrastructure, Robotics, Operations Engineering, and Data, to flawlessly execute roadmap priorities.
  • Establish success metrics for your solutions, closely track them, and leverage them to inform future iterations.
  • Anticipate the evolving needs of Bowery as we rapidly expand our farm network and adjust your solutions accordingly.

Who You Are:

  • Data-driven decision-maker who focuses on solving root causes rather than symptoms.
  • Demonstrate empathy for users and stakeholders throughout the product development process.
  • View assumptions and constraints as inspiration rather than obstacles.
  • Drive successful outcomes by collaborating effectively with teams across functional areas and levels.
  • Make informed decisions for your product area while considering diverse perspectives, rather than relying solely on consensus.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
  • Efficiently execute the product development lifecycle, delivering high-quality results.
  • Transparent about both successes and disappointments, fostering a culture of open communication.
  • Possess strong product intuition and system design thinking, with a passion for building scalable solutions.
  • Experienced in managing complex products and excited to innovate with new technologies.
  • These qualities will empower you to excel as a Sr. Product Manager at Bowery and contribute to our mission of transforming the future of indoor farming.
