Senior Product Manager: Audio Video Engine

The Audio/Video team inside the Roblox Engine creates the systems that enable the future of communications, expression and entertainment across our whole metaverse platform. AV is a set of critical engine systems that power the use of video and audio content, from our spatial audio systems developers can use inside their games and experiences, to the video processing systems used to derive machine learning data for our digital avatar puppeteering work (for example to make my avatar smile when the user in front of the web camera smiles).

As a Product Leader for the Engine Audio/Video Team you will help set the product direction and drive the end user impact of the technologies that you will help define and deliver.

Your Technical Background:

• You understand the complexity of audio and video processing in both client-side and server-side environments.
• You have worked with, or managed products that contain video and audio processing software.
• You have experience with codecs such as h264, h265, AAC and Sorenson, as well as container formats like MP4, FLAC, OGG, QuickTime (and you understand the technical differences between codecs and containers)
• You have had some experience with server side transcoding and streaming technologies.
• You have had some experience with content moderation, CSAM moderation systems, and potentially machine learning moderation systems, sufficient to collaborate with other expert teams in this area.

You Are:

• Technical. You understand the gritty details and can efficiently communicate with the world's best engineers
• Visionary, with 5-10 years of product management experience and a history of finding the highest leverage path through a sea of options
• Communicative. You have a history of juggling stakeholders and can succinctly explain, advocate for and sell your product strategy.
• Experienced shipping and managing a product with millions of users and sensitive to stability, distribution, and update flows
• Systematic. You are working toward a clear goal and every incremental release advances it. You understand system dynamics and prioritize scalability

You Will:

• Be the Product Owner of all A/V systems in the Roblox Engine Team.
• Drive the strategy for a next generation of Audio and Video systems
• Understand new trends and cutting edge technologies so you can ensure that we have the best tools in the world to power our platform
• Engage our developers directly and balance that feedback with an understanding of what is possible today and might be possible in the future to identify new capabilities and define product features
• Develop deep customer empathy to discover and define the right problems and products we should be pursuing.
• Balance and prioritize new features with existing backlog initiatives and align them with the product vision.
• Communicate Engine needs and product concepts to other internal stakeholders, engineers, designers, and product team members.
• Be incredibly truth-seeking and collect all data necessary to inform product direction whether in the form of competitive intelligence, customer behavior, or other market metrics.

Basic Qualifications:

• A degree in a highly technical field like computer science, software engineering, or similar work experience.
• Product experience shipping, updating and maintaining a software product with millions of users.
• Demonstrated ability to think in system and platform terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands on audio-video engineering or product management experience.
