In a nutshell
Join us in our mission to champion human-centred design. As a product designer at UsabilityHub your work will help shape the UX design and research practice at some of the world’s largest companies.
Who we are
UsabilityHub is a remote UX research platform that helps organisations deliver products that perfectly fit their customers’ needs. We empower designers to engage directly with users and get rich feedback, quickly and easily. We’ve been championing human-centred design practices for over 10 years with big and small customers including Asana, Google, Metalab, UsTwo, Unilever and Zendesk.
Who we're looking for
- You’re a systems thinker. Our products have a lot of moving parts and you’ll often need to hold and connect many concepts in your head at a time.
- You feel at home on a technical product team. We’re highly collaborative and you’ll regularly work with engineering teammates to bring them along for the design journey and pair on implementation.
- You have a strong research bent. You’ll combine interviews, usability tests, customer feedback, analytics and market trends to help us get a clear picture of customer needs and opportunities.
- You’re skilled on the tools. We work in Figma at various levels of fidelity and build reusable designs components wherever we can to keep moving quickly.
- You’re a clear and confident communicator. You’ll need to articulate customer needs and design rationale in conversation and writing in a way that helps us get on the same page.
- You love a challenge! We’re a small team in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive market which means you need to learn and adapt to change quickly.
Picture yourself in this role
If you had worked with us this past month, you would have:
- Collaborated with Zak (Senior Product Manager), Odin (Senior Engineer), Tristan, and Matt (Co-founders) to scope a significant feature we’re working on and break it up into milestones.
- Scheduled and conducted conversations with customers to collect feedback and synthesised key findings in Dovetail.
- Produced interface designs and prototypes in Figma and paired with Odin and Zak to talk through technical feasibility and timelines.
- Conducted a design review on updates we pushed to staging and documented any required changes and suggested improvements in Notion or Linear.
- Participated in the UXAustralia Design Research conference we recently sponsored, as an attendee or a speaker.
- Participated in a retro with the product team, discussed issues that slowed us down and worked out a plan of action together to address them.
- Contributed a proposal for our product roadmap based on conversations you’ve had with customers or observations you’ve made in our market.
Location
This role is open to candidates living anywhere with at least 3 hours of overlap with our Melbourne office.
Perks and Benefits
- A work life balance that fits your needs. Team members can choose between 4 day work weeks, 9 day fortnights or full time hours, and we aim to work smart, not spend crazy hours at work.
- A share in our success. All team members get a percentage of profits every quarter and (soon) an equity stake in the business.
- Generous parental leave. We support growing families with 14 weeks of fully paid leave for primary carers and 6 weeks for secondary carers.
- An investment in your development. We offer AU$1,500 per year for you to spend on books, courses and events along with 6 paid Level Up days.
- Everything you need to do your best work. Whether you’re working from home, a co-working space or our office, we’ll cover your gear, office rent and furniture.
