ABOUT THE ROLE
Sounder’s Design team, as part of the overall Product group, is responsible for discovering and delivering product experiences that drive discovery, engagement, and monetization for all types of creators & audio. The Design team takes great pride in creating experiences that put the creator first while balancing critical business and technology needs. While the output is often visual, the team’s work happens at every stage.
As a Senior Product Designer, you will be a key member of the Design team, responsible for ideating, prototyping, validating, and delivering high-impact work that achieves Sounder’s product vision.
What You'll Do
- Daily collaboration between product management and engineering to understand and validate customer needs with a focus on splitting that work up into incremental, strategic releases
- Improve our design system language and how we organize this work – podcasting deserves better tools and a coherent, unified system that works together is a must
- Contribute and lead key aspects of Sounder’s overall brand & marketing strategy
- Participate and often lead design reviews amongst the entire design team, specific working teams, and the overall company
- Inspire, motivate, and lead designers across experience levels enabling them do the best work of their career
- Conduct data analysis, market research, and user research to surface customer problems and needs
- Evangelize the product's mission and vision in both qualitative and quantitative aspects to your team and the entire company
- Become an expert in podcasting technology and the overall audio industry
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience creating beautiful, effective, and accessible digital experiences, designs, prototypes, and flows at a tech-first company
- A clear record of shipping great experiences – you’ve seen every phase of a project and know how to persevere through the ups and downs of hard tradeoffs
- Mastery of common design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Illustrator, Whimsical, etc
- You have empathy: you love to talk to users to get a deep understanding of what they need and you’ll never stop asking “why?” internally
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written
- Deep awareness of how technology works – you must understand the technical implications of the product decisions you make
- Eagerness to work in a fast-paced work environment
- An "understand, prototype, validate and then build" mentality and a team player above all
- You should be obsessed with podcasts!
