About the role
Radar is looking for Senior Product Designer with a passion for conducting impactful user research, designing developer tools and creating scalable design systems. You’ll work closely with our Engineering and Product teams to drive the user experience for our web and mobile products that developers rely on to build location-aware app experiences and product leaders use to ensure the success of their location based solutions.
As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll be joining a small, scrappy product design team where you’ll have significant responsibility and impact over the user experiences you design and the company at large. You’ll play a pivotal role in leading our design efforts, defining our product’s vision, strategy and user experience, and influencing our design culture.
You will report to our Director of Product Design.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with our Product and Engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, execute on strategy and provide creative, thoughtful solutions that exceed customer expectations
- Lead our design process from ideation and user research through prototyping and launch
- Partner with our engineers to enhance the product offering and usability of our Toolkit and Trips user experiences (iOS and Android), and develop our Dashboard and Docs web pages
- Conduct user research and leverage feedback to inform data-driven design decisions that address customer needs and direct our product strategy and roadmap
- Effectively communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with concepts, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, high-fidelity prototypes, and design rationale to team members, cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
- Scale design by contributing to our design system, and refining our design process and best practices
You have:
- 4+ years of product design experience, preferably at a tech, product-driven company
- Expert proficiency in Figma (preferred), Adobe creative suite, and/or Sketch
- A strong portfolio showing usable digital interfaces with strong product, interaction and visual design (Please include URLs for an online portfolio in your resume. Applications without a portfolio included will not be considered)
- Track record of partnering with engineers and product managers to deliver valuable user experiences
- Exceptional creative, conceptual and strategic thinking that translates customer needs and business requirements into concrete designs
- Excellent visual, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate your design work and rationale to stakeholders, and manage expectations
- Proven ability to conduct evaluative user research and collect feedback that informs data-driven designs
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and other web technologies
- Experience designing developer-focused products, a strong plus
- Ability to proficiently code in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, or native mobile languages (primarily for prototyping), a plus
