Senior Product Designers at Xero are responsible for designing beautiful, enabling and meaningful experiences that solve genuine customer problems. As a seasoned designer you’ll work closely with Product and Engineering on med-large scale projects within a product area of a portfolio.
How you’ll make an impact
As the Senior Designer in the Payables team you will work with the Design Manager and others in the Payments, Billing and Automation team to understand and deliver on our mission – to help small businesses save time and improve cash flow. Partnering with product and engineering peers on a large scale initiative, this role is an exciting opportunity to be involved in developing a user experience with global reach. As we continue to develop our core payments platform you will help to push interface design of Xero into the future and support its users along the journey and improve the lives of millions of customers. There will be a strong emphasis on upfront discovery work from both a user and technical perspective. Though predominately based in Melbourne, you will work closely with stakeholders based in the UK and US.
What you'll do:
- Promote the value of design and collaborative practice across spheres of influence and participation
- Display strong visual design skills to complement your existing processes and problem solving so you can successfully interpret and grow the XUI design system
- Dive headfirst into research, working with our established team to identify and communicate findings horizontally across all teams.
- Contribute to the definition and articulation of ‘the problem’ – challenging assumptions and 'pre-set' thinking around solutions, agreeing the purpose, principles and vision
- Create frameworks (read wireframes low/high-fi, visual frameworks, content/data models etc) which articulate the components, journeys and elements required to solve 'the problem'
- Explore ideal future concepts and identify new interaction solutions and patterns that meet customer needs in a better way
- Develop phased design solutions that bridge the gap between a future state and current patterns, XUI design system and other relevant constraints and considerations
- Create prototypes which tangibly demonstrate a proposed concept or solution
What you'll bring with you:
- Experience working with remote teams.
- Demonstrated design ability with a focus on interaction and visual design.
- Demonstrated discovery skills and understanding of UX methodologies
- A passion for quality critique and fostering design uplift
- Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building & stakeholder management skills
- A self starter, showing initiative and good work management skills
- Curiosity and a willingness to lean into a complex domain and problems
- Track record of innovating and delivering high quality design experiences
- Track record of solving customers' problems through design thinking and execution
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working on large design projects
- Experience building and iterating on a product or experiences based on usage patterns, user feedback and an evolving strategic landscape
- A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality design outcomes, contributing to user experience and business value
- Experience across the entire design process, with mastery in executing elegant interfaces
