Senior Product Designer job at Mango Languages

A Senior Product Designer at Mango will need to lead the design and creation of innovative, simple, and scalable user experiences for complex language learning problems within Mango’s suite of products. You will maintain a design system and standards that are intuitive and easy for you and other designers and developers to learn and implement, making Mango’s design program scalable and efficient. Working across multiple teams and projects, you will ensure that each project is aligned to design strategy and product vision; while keeping Mango’s products intuitive, beautiful, and adherent to brand standards and business objectives.

You will create innovative and unique design concepts and prototypes that redefine traditional language learning and set Mango apart from the competition. Presentations are made as necessary to stakeholders and developers to clarify and inspire. You are a leader, and understand how to develop and engage a team of designers around a product vision, while possessing an intuitive sense about what software developers need to perform their work.

You will assist project teams in onboarding new designers - employees and contractors - so they have the design expertise available to fulfill project objectives. In situations where a designer isn’t immediately available, you will need to step in and help the team meet their objectives. Finding ways to optimize design workflow and improve collaboration will be part of your administrative responsibilities; including process design and procuring tools that make designers’ and developers’ workflows faster and simpler.

Your thinking goes beyond simple screen design. Being cerebral about how to design products that challenge conventions and solve big problems is part of your DNA. Brainstorms with stakeholders and teams energize you. You recognize that design work isn’t done after handing wireframes and screens off to developers. You aim to see that the essence of great design is captured and fulfilled throughout the entire process while balancing project constraints, time, and cost with learner value.

When creating solutions to any number of challenges, you will need to effectively explain your solution to stakeholders in multiple teams. You have experience working on both UX and UI design and are familiar with creating apps for iOS, Android, and the Web. Testing with real users and stakeholders is an important aspect of this position. Responsibilities

Working on designs and prototypes for features of the Mango Languages app on iOS, Android, and the Web.
Ensuring organizational teams have the design expertise they need to fulfill objectives.
Leading a group of product designers across several cross-functional teams, both employees and contractors.
Creating and maintaining design systems and ui kits that are easy to access and implement.
Ensure Mango’s products meet accessibility standards.
Shipping designs promptly and with high quality.
Creating flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for new or proposed features.
Working closely with engineers to ensure a high-quality implementation using thorough, production-ready designs.
Seeking out long-term opportunities to improve features of the product.
Responding to user and stakeholder feedback with well-thought-out solutions.
Staying in close communication with your team and effectively communicating design work and ideas to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

8+ years working as a professional designer.
Experience leading, managing and developing a team of designers.
Minimum of 3-5 years working as a User Interface Designer at a digital product-focused organization creating apps for iOS, Android, and the Web.
A portfolio that demonstrates an ability to create world-class product design for iOS, Android, and Web applications.
Excellent visual design skills showcasing intimate knowledge of color theory, typography, and layout.
Excellent knowledge of modern, cross-platform user experience design principles.
Experience designing in Figma, Sketch, InVision Studio, or Adobe XD.
Experience with prototyping tools such as ProtoPie, Axure, Adobe XD, Origami, and Figma.
