Senior Product Designer, International Premium Products

At Discord, we're building new experiences that engage our users and achieve our mission of creating belonging. We're looking for a Product Designer to join our Premium Products team and lead Design for our International Markets team. This role will play an important part in building out the company's core business around the world.

Product Designers at Discord are embedded with our engineering team and are involved in the full product development process, from brainstorming to launch. In this role, you'll use your product, interaction, and visual design skills to build new experiences for important new markets. You will partner with product, marketing, engineering, and analytics on products and features related to growing our business. Most importantly, you will play a crucial part in fulfilling our mission of helping people find belonging, no matter where they live.

What you'll be doing

• Improve our product experience for international audiences by solving UX problems related to language, regional behavior, and culture
• Inform our approach to designing in countries where Discord is still emerging by building new mental models, identifying use cases, and interpreting user behavior
• Embed within a Premium Products squad and partner with engineers, product managers and data scientists to oversee the user experience of paid features from concept to launch — and then continue to improve it after it releases to millions of users.
• Mix your visual, UX, and interaction design skills to design valuable and delightful features for our users
• Understand our goals and connect them with design principles that can inform product decisions in any country
• Foster a culture of user-centric design across the company

What you should have

• Experience designing and solving problems for international audiences
• Minimum of 3 years experience designing and shipping a web/app product for a variety of devices and platforms
• Product thinking and vision. You're more concerned with the "why" than the "how"
• Excitement to dig into experiment data to help inform design iterations and whether something should ship
• A high level of craft
• Experience with Figma or Sketch

Bonus Points

• Experience or willingness to mentor other designers
• Experience designing within a growth organization.
• Experience building design systems
• Interface animation know-how
• CSS, JavaScript, or React skills
