As a member of a Formant's inaugural design team, you'll be joined by other product designers who each bring unique gifts in visual design, motion design, and prototyping.The Senior Product Designer will meet our need for an interaction-focused designer: someone who ultimately delivers production-ready mockups with the rest of the team, but will have an especially keen sense for practical user research, information architecture, flow, and the non-visual aspects of UI. This is a unique opportunity to establish the design culture for a growing company, with support from a design leader passionate about craft, mentorship, collaboration, and customer success.

What you'll do:

Collaborate with product designers, managers, and engineers on designing the Formant web app: an interface for remotely operating and monitoring robot fleets.
Create click-through prototypes to conceptualize and test product features.
Use the Formant design system to create production-ready screen flows.
Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success in shaping a practical and repeatable approach to user research.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering in defining product safety principles and putting them into practice.

To do this well, you'll need:

A portfolio demonstrating at least 5 years of professional experience designing web applications for B2B, enterprise, data, industrial, or other technical settings.
Experience defining the overall information architecture and navigation for a complex system.
Experience with qualitative research methods for defining user models, plotting journeys, and testing interface designs.
A talent for separating how things work from how things look, with an instinctive understanding that not all UI is GUI.
A firm handle on Figma for creating click-through prototypes and production-ready web interfaces.
Experience working with remote multi-disciplinary teams, and facilitating design conversations that balance product, engineering, and other business goals.
Grace in managing the dynamic requirements of a fast-moving startup, with a knack for turning ambiguous goals into clear and compelling solutions.
