Asana is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Authorization team on the Enterprise pillar in San Francisco. If you love creating complex systems, then this role is for you. As the designer on the Authorization team, you’ll be working on features that are key business drivers for Asana success: helping users precisely control what others can do with their work (think of access levels like “can edit” or “can view”), while also enabling product teams to provide secure and consistent authorization solutions.

You will collaborate with many other teams throughout the company to influence the direction of how privacy and permission frameworks power collaboration for Asana customers. This is vital to the future success of Asana, especially as our customers grow in scale: the more work they put into Asana, the more critical it becomes to create robust yet easy-to-understand and transparent privacy and permission frameworks.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements.

About the design team

We design the future of teamwork. Asana has a bold, ambitious mission: help humanity thrive by enabling the world’s teams to work together effortlessly. Our design team is at the heart of that mission.

Asana Design is an inclusive and collaborative community. We’re a diverse group of designers from different backgrounds (product, brand and content design, design operations, producers, motion design, film, copywriting). We are a team that loves combining research, data insights, and peer feedback into a human-centered design process to produce designs that are core to the power of our applications. We partner with people across Asana to create our product, shape our brand, and drive greater impact through design. We use design to solve challenges and create experiences that customers love. We also take the time to get weird and have fun along the way.

We believe every designer should have the opportunity to grow and learn by utilizing their strengths and nurturing their interests.

What you’ll achieve

  • Own and lead the end-to-end design process of net new features and iterations of an award-winning product (read stories on the Asana Design blog)
  • Work through product problems from opportunity and definition to shipping features to our customers
  • Be actively involved in defining the strategy for your program team, as a key contributor to defining your program’s goals, success metrics, roadmap, and sprint commitments
  • Influence the direction of your program by identifying and defining new feature opportunities
  • Deliver high-quality, polished, delightful, and easy to use design, thinking in terms of design systems, not just screens
  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly, and connect regularly with customers to validate product directions
  • Participate in design critique and present work regularly in product leadership feedback meetings
  • Partner closely with engineers as they build and ship solutions & experience career growth and personal development with world-class mentorship and development programs

About you

  • 5+ years relevant design experience at a high tech, product-driven company
  • Experience designing digital apps and deeply interconnected systems; you have built product solutions from scratch and iterated on existing solutions
  • Clearly communicate complex ideas in simple ways that can be followed by cross-functional audiences
  • A driven self-starter, experienced in taking ownership of the direction of ambiguous projects. Excited about collaborating and building relationships with other teams in the company, including Engineering, Marketing, UXR, and Product Management
  • Facilitate and participate in co-creation sessions to generate innovative design ideas and solutions in collaboration with stakeholders and team members
  • Possess a strong understanding of the product development process, from discovery and problem definition to detailed UX and visual design
  • Creative problem-solver who can iterate with low-fidelity sketches of workflows and translate those into beautiful high-fidelity designs using Figma
  • Able to understand and adhere to a design system, and challenge and contribute to it when necessary & approach problems with curiosity, and excitement to learn and grow your skills
