The Experience team defines how our customers, riders, restaurants and employees interact with Deliveroo’s products. Based in London, our team has a global impact, with our work reaching customers in Singapore, riders in Milan and restaurant kitchens in Paris.

Join us in shaping the future of food and retail delivery at Deliveroo, where impact, innovation, and growth drives everything we do. Our teams tackle some of the most exciting challenges in tech, building systems that impact millions daily. 🚀

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Care team. Deliveroo is a hybrid company, so this new teammate will work with us in our London office (at least) three days a week. We believe in striking a balance between in-person collaboration and independent deep work.

About the team you’ll be joining

The Care Team sits within Delivery & Care, which is a part of Deliveroo’s Experience Team. The Experience Team is home to our product designers, content designers, and localisation managers. The Care Team is responsible for creating tools and processes to smoothly manage any customer or Rider questions and concerns. They also own the customer post-purchase and Care experiences. In short, whenever a customer, partner, or Rider needs additional support—this team has their back!

What you’ll be doing

On a day-to-day basis you will…

Design usable and scalable web and mobile applications used by Deliveroo customers, Riders, and Care agents. Level-up your systems thinking by mapping and optimising touch points and user journey flows between Deliveroo customers, Riders, and Care agents.

  • Innovate efficient Care solutions that use new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine translation.
  • Carefully balance the needs of various stakeholders to find win-win-win solutions when deliveries aren’t as seamless as we aim for.
  • Proactively prevents mishaps by understanding how and where things go wrong in the customer and delivery experience and addressing them with elegant design solutions.
  • Use our Design System in Figma to ensure that designs are accessible and easy to develop.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as our product and engineering peers to ensure the work that’s done is feasible and valuable given whatever constraints that might exist.
  • Understand Deliveroo’s core metrics and business goals and contribute to the business’s success with your superpowers—critical thinking and customer-centric design.

What you’ll need to thrive

We value intellectual humility, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to move quickly while being practical. But above all else, we need unique teammates from varied backgrounds to add new perspectives, skills, and experience. Our ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in some of these areas, with a willingness to grow in others:

  • Solid design execution skills with a keen attention to detail and a deep understanding of usability principles.
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and be the voice of the customer.
  • A team-player spirit because we value collective success over individual achievement. High-fives all around!
  • The ability to move quickly because at Deliveroo we move fast, adapt to the market, and respond productively to change.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset that drives you to become a better designer and person each day. We’ll provide you with a manager who shares actionable, constructive feedback and a stellar Staff Product Designer to mentor you on your craft.
  • A good sense of humour—you believe work can and should be fun.
  • A great appetite—’cause we love eating!

Is this role right for you?

We understand that getting the right fit is not only important to Deliveroo, but also to the wellbeing and growth for whoever joins our team. To help you decide if Deliveroo is a place where you can do your best work (or not), here are some reasons this role may or may not be a fit:

  • You keep your work to yourself until it’s ready for development. We have regular Experience Team crits, and we share our work early, often, and messy.
  • You need extreme clarity to get busy working on things. At Deliveroo we tackle big problems with undefined boundaries, so we embrace ambiguity and figure things out together as we go.

A note from your Manager

Hey! My name is Erin, and I’ll be your manager if you choose to join our team. As your manager, it’s my job to set you up for success. I do this by giving you access to the tools and information you need, removing barriers that get in your way, and guiding you back on track if you get lost.

I believe in servant leadership. That means I’m not the type of person who tells people what to do. Instead I ask questions, give suggestions, and nudge people to figure things out for themselves. I also believe in radical candor. So, if I notice something that is holding you back, I will not shy away from giving you clear, actionable feedback. I have an empathic, direct communication style because I believe that feedback is a gift when given from the heart with the other person’s best interest in mind. You can expect me to champion your work, hold a design quality bar, and help you become a better designer each day.
