Job Overview:

The Design & Research teams play a vital role in Coursera’s success. These teams are responsible for gathering learner & partner insights and translating them into recommendations that help Coursera achieve a seamless experience across its platform. These teams are divided down into three main areas: Growth & Discovery, Learner & Educator Experience, & Enterprise.

The experience of learning and transformation is inherently challenging. Your work as a designer will be to create simplicity from complexity and influence everything from the most micro-interaction to full-enterprise learning programs with thousands of employee learners. Our goal is to make education accessible to all and we need extraordinary designers to realize this.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your product, interaction, and visual design skills to create delightful experiences that empower our users
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, data science, product research and content design to create a product from the initial definition to shipping and beyond
  • Iterate on designs to arrive at an optimal solution considering timelines, feasibility, technical and business constraints
  • Design for multiple projects at a time, managing time, goals, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Work with substantial autonomy across multiple teams and business lines
  • Detect opportunities to collaborate with designers across teams and help evolve the culture of knowledge sharing within the team

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years web-based Component Design experience OR 5+ years of web-based Product Design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a test-driven environment (A/B testing) to help inform design direction.
  • Communication and collaboration strategies with cross-functional partners PMs, engineering, other designers, and execs in evolving design proposals.
  • Experience building new product offerings, and conducting user research to inform MVP definition and development.
  • Comfort using Figma and for remote work / Miro
