Senior Product Designer, Cloud Group

Overview

We’re on a mission to make the world a safer place with more secure software.

Cyber security is taking center stage for many companies, and the demand for Snyk’s product is sky-rocketing. Snyk has been adopted by over 2.2M developers who use Snyk to find and fix vulnerabilities in their open source libraries and container images, empowering them to develop secure software faster.

Snyk has now entered the Cloud Security Market and we are looking for a UX or Product Designer to design a range of experiences for users to easily find vulnerabilities in their cloud posture and fix them at the source: configuration code.

You will be working closely with product and engineering teammates to help drive the future of our products.

You’ll spend your time:

• Understanding the security analyst persona, what it's like to manage an organization's cloud infrastructure
• Working day to day in an R&D team, and also collaborating with other designers 
• Designing the system through user flows, design concepts and iterative user feedback sessions, to finally crafting hi-fidelity design artifacts
• Contributing to and using a design system to create a unified product experience
• Designing and conducting user testing sessions, both with Snyk stakeholders and users
• Conducting research to identify pain points and user needs to help influence product decisions
• Sharing your skills, helping to build our world class design team
• Making it easy for the 27 million developers in the world to build and ship secure code

As a company we are distributed across four offices in London, Tel Aviv, Boston and Ottawa, with 10% of the company working fully-remote. We’ve made an organizational commitment to building a strong, effective, distributed company: we form teams across multiple offices wherever possible, and we invest in communication so that we can benefit from each others’ perspectives. As well as an always-on webcam so we can see what’s happening in each office, we make heavy use of video calls, Slack, and some inter-office travel.

You should apply if you:

• Demonstrated commercial experience designing enterprise software
• Have a solid understanding of the user-centered design process and defining product direction based on research
• Are an effective communicator and collaborator in a remote environment, including thoughtful written documentation.
• Have experience handing off designs to engineers and collaborating during the implementation process to solve challenging problems in an innovative way
• Understand the constraints and conventions of modern software development and have a general understanding of the web development process
• Can articulate how you like to work - talking about a clear process for problem discovery through to ideation and testing
• Can demonstrate design thinking with a show by doing attitude
• Excited to build a product, that solves real users needs in a pragmatic and iterative way
• Are agile and enjoy the speed of a fast-paced, highly engaged startup environment.
• You are confident in interacting and communicating with customers in a range of scenarios, such as workshops, presentations and interviews.
• Are hands-on, curious and love to explore new domains and technologies and are a critical thinker prepared to challenge the status quo

Tech Stack

Our current stack consists of: NodeJS, JavaScript, Vue.js, TypeScript, jQuery, Express, Postgresql, SQL, Sass, BEM, CSS, Google Cloud, BigQuery, Docker, Fractal, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes.

While we are looking for candidates with existing experience with our tech stack we believe curiosity, communication, and the ability to learn are most important.

What does our interview process look like?

We start by having a video call to get to know you. We’ll tell you more about us, the role, and why our culture is so great! We also want to hear about you, your skills and experience, and why you are interested in exploring Snyk. 

Next up we’ll send you a take home exercise. Ideally, you will get it back to us within a week and we can take a look at your work.

From there we’ll have an onsite interview where you will get to visit our office, meet a few different members of the team, and other stakeholders either in person or over Zoom, and find out everything you need to know about the way we work.
