We're Pin Payments (acquired by Checkout.com)

Pin Payments was acquired by connected payments provider Checkout.com in 2020.

Pin Payments is an intentionally simple yet versatile payments solution for micro and small businesses with a need to take card payments online.

We’re building the systems that small businesses need to participate in the future of web and mobile commerce. We pride ourselves on accessibility, excellent customer service and clear communication.

You will join a small but growing milieu based out of offices in Perth and Melbourne.

We're Pin Payments (acquired by Checkout.com).

Last year, Pin Payments was acquired by a big name in the payments space - Checkout.com. While we're now part of a larger organization, we operate independently, and we have been lucky enough to be able to keep our vision and expand our mission. With the help of Checkout.com, we have successfully improved our service and are looking to expand into new markets and offer additional features.

Checkout.com is actively looking for an experienced Product Designer to join the Pin Payments team. You're a high-quality communicator with empathy, clarity, smarts and humility. Also, you're an excellent listener with equal willingness to teach and learn.

If you're eager to join a growing, fast-paced, start-up company and contribute to crafting its future, this is the role for you to make a difference!

About You:

  • At least 4 years of proven ability in UX/UI design for responsive web applications.
  • Solid understanding of adaptable design patterns and layout approaches.
  • Good experience in designing polished interfaces and understand UX design practices.
  • Able to explain design decisions with solid rationale and value substance over style.
  • Able to work independently without guidance; understand how a system will be used and the potential downstream effects of large and small changes.
  • Good working relationships with relevant stakeholders in different functions (technical, user, business requirements, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a team and facilitate discussion. Able to identify the people that matter in a system.
  • Adept with screen design practice relating to problem-solving, concept development, layout, colour and typography.
  • Adept with screen design practices relating to process, wireframing, UI and responsive design.
  • Preferable with experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript and GitHub (to collaborate with developers).
  • Preferably proficient in tools such as Figma, Adobe and G Suite to develop and present visual design stages.
  • High attention to details, striving to implement spectacular consistency across all communications.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work with the team to shape the future of the core platform experience and visual language;
  • Design or uplift an area of the platform dashboard, responding to direction and feedback from colleagues across different teams;
  • Collaborate with the marketing team virtually on campaign strategy, execution and delivery;
  • Collaborate with engineers and developers to guide and direct design approaches;
  • Hold design purview over any changes that have UI/UX implications and either approve them for shipping or provide feedback to get the changes to where they need to be;
  • Design new merchant, cardholder or partner flows, UI, and design options for various dashboards and features areas within the platform;
  • Work virtually with team members to discuss and tackle problems (Or just because you want to say hi!);
  • Work on other design projects within the company.
