What’s the role?
The ReEngage team at Etsy works to drive buyer frequency through the creation of new and improved user experiences on the web and app that bring buyers back. We succeed in this space when buyers visit more frequently and purchase more frequently.
As a Senior Product Designer on this team, you will craft user experiences that introduce new app users to the value of Etsy’s native app experience and increase how often buyers come back to shop. You will define and craft solutions that show users the depth and breadth of Etsy, developing features that help them achieve their shopping missions and keep them coming back for more.
We are looking for someone who can work closely with a team of cross-functional partners in product management, engineering, research and analytics. We will look to you to share your deep knowledge of native app design and UX patterns, and bring a tried and tested set of processes to tackle a range of customer problems. You will set design strategy and priorities and collaborate with app designers across teams to help unify the work and contribute to our overall vision for the buyer app.
This is a full-time position reporting to a Product Design Manager. For this role, we are considering candidates based in Mexico City who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What is Product Design like at Etsy?
Product designers at Etsy work in a squad alongside a product manager, 4-6 engineers, a researcher and a data analyst. Together they drive their own part of the Etsy customer experience by delivering solutions to problems and getting feedback directly from customers.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
- Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
- Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
- Sharing your work to peers and leadership, asynchronous and in-person
- Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
- Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
Qualifications
Senior level at Etsy means:
- Run independently or give direction to designers within your team
- Can lead workshops and effectively align the group around a vision and approach
- Have a track record of crafting sophisticated flows and customer journeys
- Can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
- Regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, collaborating, decision-making
- Spend time providing mentorship to other designers
- Play a key part in hiring, onboarding, and improving our team’s culture and engagement
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- 4+ years of professional experience working in product design across native app and web (although you might have had a different job title, like “UX Designer” or “Experience Designer”)
- A portfolio showcasing successful delivery of mobile interface design solutions for iOS and Android
- Business level ability in English
- Translation of quantitative & qualitative insights into design decisions
- Effective articulation of ideas and design solutions
- Expressing feedback with kindness and candor
- Tolerance for ambiguity and healthy curiosity
- Contribution to our culture: motivation, optimism, quality, integrity
