Senior Product Designer, App Experience

What’s the role?

The App Experience team is evolving our core e-commerce experience in our native iOS and Android apps. As more of our buyers are moving from the web into our apps, this team is helping to scale app design and development by using insights and strategies from web product teams to evolve our native buyer UX. The product designer on this team should bring knowledge of native UX patterns and interactions, and be a strong collaborator as they'll be working with teams across the Etsy Product Organization.

This Product Designer will craft native-first solutions to buyer problems, will support web-first teams in translating experiences to our native platforms, and will collaborate closely with other teams in our group to improve the experience for our buyers. We’re looking for someone who has experience applying research and data findings to drive their design decisions, who is adept at collaborating with multiple teams across the organization to deliver solutions that help meet their goals and who feels energized by working on a variety of opportunities to improve our customers’ experience and contribute to our Product Design org.

This full-time position reports to the Product Design Director, on our Buyer Experiences team. What’s this team like at Etsy?

The AppX team is accountable for executing on a variety of buyer experiences in Etsy’s native iOS and Android apps. They use their domain knowledge of our native platforms to collaborate with product teams to implement web solutions with considerations specific to our native platforms. The work this team does helps make it as easy as possible for buyers on Etsy to find what they’re looking for and make a purchase. The team is dedicated to crafting the best buyer experience to drive conversion and deliver on our top line company health metrics via iterative experimentation.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Aligning with collaborators on your prioritized roadmap
• Working closely with web designers to translate their work into the native UX
• Testing prototypes with users to collect feedback
• Sharing your work with peers and leadership, async and in-person
• Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
• Thinking and writing about your design process and decisions

Senior Product Designer level at Etsy means:

• Run independently or give direction to designers within your team
• Can lead workshops to align your group around a vision and approach
• Have a track record of crafting complex flows and customer journeys
• Can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
• Regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, collaborating, decision-making
• Spend time providing mentorship to other designers
