It is a cross-functional group that encompasses everything from product designers to machine learning engineers (and everything in between). The Design Team in Ad Performance Platform works across a wide range of business-critical product initiatives — from extending Spotify’s design system to support ad formats and tooling, to developing new audio-forward ad formats, to setting the long-term vision for brands on Spotify, to building exceptional internal tools to support our rapidly scaling ads business. Everything we build is, at its core, a capability for other teams, so we take deep pride in being deeply customer focused, and detail obsessed.

This is a unique opportunity that sits at the intersection of product design and design systems.Encore is the global design system for everyone at Spotify. The Ads Design System is an Encore local system, which means we adhere to those global standards and maintain highly specific components and patterns for the advertising business.

We are looking for an expert product designer to join our team and take ownership of key design initiatives, at a moment of inflection for our business! You can't stop talking about design systems, collaboration, accessibility, design ethics, and inclusion. You listen closely to end-users and your collaborators and encourage others by performing a high standard of craft.

What You'll Do:

Work day-to-day in a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to build and maintain an end-to-end local design system
Collaborate and align with the Encore, the global design system for the entire Spotify business
Mentor and guide product teams through decision making when it relates to design system components, patterns, and frameworks
Guide design system development by applying your design craft, through concept sketches, storyboards, product mock-ups, high-fidelity prototypesThink big, but start small — identify both new opportunities and also the first step to exploring them
Work in a variety of projects, from broad explorative prompts to tightly defined launch cycles
Partner closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists and researchers to define next steps as well as long-term strategy
Work with our user research teams to scope and support ongoing research projects
Design solutions focused on inclusivity, design ethics, and accessibility in order to reach users worldwide
Share your work regularly with your immediate peers, as well as participating in design reviews with design and company leadership

Who You Are:

Thrive at the intersection of design systems and product design work
Familiar and comfortable working within and contributing to large design systems that you may or may not own directly
Understand the importance of clear communication and collaboration to effectively roll out frameworks
Enjoy thinking about design at scale, you are passionate about delivering efficiency gains and love supporting teams by advocating for process change
Enjoy crafting in complex and sometimes ambiguous spaces where there is no “paved path”
Collaborating and thinking with other designers comes naturallyHave experience designing for either business or consumer focused products at scale
Care about design craft and the details that elevate work from good to great
Believe in creating a culture of feedback and actively seek out feedback on your work and approachesHave 5+ years of relevant design experience
Create frameworks to tie our audio and visual experiences together
Develop our suite of internal tools and developer experiencesImprove our team’s design craft and rituals
